Alexandre Burrows has received plenty of criticism – among other things – for his hit on Ryan McDonagh. The hit came late in the third period as the Canucks were trailing the Rangers by a score of 3-1. Borrows got his hands up high and pushed a defenseless McDonagh awkwardly into the boards. Burrows received a five-minute major penalty as well as a game misconduct, but he avoided additional discipline from the NHL. The story doesn’t end there. As mentioned above, Burrows has received plenty of attention for the hit. In the era of social media, that means fans have the access and the ability to speak their mind to the opposition. This includes death threats. Burrows on Twitter feedback re McDonagh hit. “500 messages from Rangers fans. 'I'll kill your family, I want you to die.' Bad things." — Iain MacIntyre (@imacVanSun) April 3, 2014 It’s disappointing, but not surprising.

New York Rangers must protect Ryan McDonagh from himself

When Ryan McDonagh crumbled to the ice late Tuesday night in Vancouver, his mouth agape, his face warped in pain, Rangers fans held their breath. They crossed their fingers. They averted their eyes then immediately looked back. They waited for him to rise to his feet. The seconds rung like a gong. They dragged on relentlessly, their timbre low, their tenor dark. As McDonagh lay sprawled...

Now, if watch the video you...

No Discipline for Burrows Hit on McDonagh

#NYR No supplementary discipline expected for Vancouver's Alex Burrows' hit on Ryan McDonagh last night. — Katie Strang (@KatieStrangESPN) April 2, 2014 …and this is exactly why the Rangers needed to take care of Burrows last night. The NHL obviously isn’t serious about taking dangerous hits (at least the ones to Rangers players) out of the game, so the Blueshirts...

Ryan McDonagh has officially broken into the elite ranks of fantasy defenseman this year with 43 points in 77 games all while maintaining his status as one of, if not these best lockdown defenseman in the east, and maybe the league. A lot of good that does his owners now that Alex Burrows leveled McDonagh in the waning seconds of the Rangers’ Tuesday’s 3-1 win over the Canucks...

Ryan McDonagh will not play tonight against Senators

Per ESPN’s Katie Strang, Ryan McDonagh will not play tonight against the Ottawa Senators. No real surprise there. The Rangers’ magic number is 1. They clinch tonight with a win against...
