The Bruins probably should have won by three or four goals Sunday night in Buffalo, but Ryan Miller was stellar in net for the Sabres, and only allowed two goals (Boston added an empty-netter) in a 3-1 win Bruins win. Miller made a couple of highlight-reel saves and made himself one of the major story lines of the game. In the process, Miller overshadowed his counterpart at the other end of the ice, Boston backup and the game’s first star, Anton Khudobin. Khudobin was solid once again in between the pipes for the Bruins, picking up his second win of the season, and his third win of his Boston career. In the process, Khudobin pushed his career record to 7-1-0 with a 1.51 goals against average and a .954 save percentage. With the Bruins’ relatively tame schedule thus far along with the play of No. 1 goalie Tuukka Rask, Khudobin’s chances have been few and far between. But when he’s been called upon, he’s shined for the Bruins, giving them all they can ask for in a backup goaltender. “...

Kevin Freiheit: Sabres fall 3-1 to Bruins

The Sabres short two game winning streak came to an end on Sunday, as they fell 3-1 to the Bruins at the First Niagara Center. Backup goaltender Anton Khudobin made 25 of 26 saves on the night, leading Boston to victory. Khudobin made just his second start of the season, but now has wins in seven of his nine career games played, dating back to 2009. The Bruins used a power...

Khudobin stands tall in big win over Buffalo

After getting lit up on their home ice just over a week ago by Thomas Vanek and the Buffalo Sabres, the Bruins, powered by a strong performance from back-up goaltender Anton Khudobin, secured a 3-1 win last night in what has become a heated rivalry. Shawn Thornton was back on the ice along with Sabres' enforcer John Scott, who knocked Thornton out for several games with a concussion...

Khudobin shines brighter than Rihanna's forehead at the Grammys. BRUINS WIN!

The Bruins scored a big victory last night in Buffalo if we want to play up the revenge angle, but I don't. I don't see why people believed the Bruins needed to avenge Shawn Thornton because of what happened with him and John Scott. If an enforcer gets hurt fighting an enforcer, there's nothing to atone for. Instead, Boston came out and pretty much manhandled the Buffalo...

GARTH: Power Outage

Ryan Miller made 77 saves on the 81 shots he faced vs. the Islanders and Bruins. Wouldn't it be great if he could maintain a .951 save percentage? Only problem, is his teammates only scored four goals to support him. Miller allowed only four goals against (the empty netter by Lucic wasn't his fault). Wouldn't be great if the Sabres forwards could get up off their...

Kevin Freiheit: Sabres survive storm

The Sabres never have an easy time when facing the Islanders, but they found a way to win on Saturday. Ryan Miller stopped 41 of 43 shots on the night, helping the Sabres put together two consecutive victories since season opening wins against Philadelphia and Toronto. Despite getting outshot 43-15, the Sabres held on and escaped Long Island with a much needed two points at Nassau Colise...

Second Line Foils Miller’s Superb Night As Bruins Beat Sabres, 3-1

The Bruins celebrate Patrice Bergeron’s game-winning goal in the third period of Sunday’s game against the Sabres. Whether it was the benefit of the extra day of rest or the results of cabin fever from Nemo, the Bruins came out flying in a rematch with the Buffalo Sabres last night. Again, it was a flawless third period that propelled the B’s to the 3-1 win and their best 10...

Tim Thomas’ On-Ice Success Will Define His Legacy, NESN’s Gord Kluzak Says (Video)

Despite all the off-ice drama surrounding former Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas, he is still the player who backstopped the B’s to their first Stanley Cup championship in 38 years. That, NESN’s Gord Kluzak says, is what Thomas will be most remembered for as his career in Boston comes to a close. “I think [the controversy] will all be lost when you look back,” Kluzak said during...

Sabres 3, Islanders 2

Ryan Miller made 41 saves, and Alexander Sulzer scored the tiebreaking goal midway through the third period for the Buffalo Sabres, who earned a 3-2 victory over the New York Islanders despite being badly outshot Saturday night. Thomas Vanek and Christian Ehrhoff added goals for the Sabres, who won their second straight game. Buffalo was outshot 43-15 by the Islanders, who dropped...

Ty Anderson: Take Five: Bergeron leads way in win over Sabres

While the Boston Bruins sat and waited for the blizzard that slammed New England and postponed Saturday’s affair against the Tampa Bay Lightning to pass through, Ryan Miller and the Buffalo Sabres were busy (successfully) surviving a 43-shot onslaught from the New York Islanders at the Nassau Coliseum. But as the well rested Bruins made their way to First Niagara Center for...

NHL Action Continues on Fox Sports

The Boston Bruins host the New York Rangers in this week's featured NHL game of the week. The Bruins enter the 2012-13 season basically the same team that made the playoffs last year with one major exception. Goalie Tim Thomas announced he was taking the season off, which has accelerated the full time playing status for heir apparent, Tuukka Rask. Rask was signed to a one-year...

PREVIEW 10.5: Bruins vs. Sabres -- We're Mostly Dug Out

Is today's game Game 10 or Game 11? **** it, we'll go with Game 10.5 for now. Stupid snow storms... Last time the Bruins and Sabres faced off the Bruins played like ass. The defense had more holes than swiss cheese, Tuukka Rask was left out to dry like sheets at your grandmothers house and Thomas Vanek was allowed to mollest this **** out of Rask like a bad...

Sabres Still Looking For Answers

Photo Courtesy: Bill Wippert/NHLI via Getty Images Another night, another game in which the offense struggled, the defense was awful, and Ryan Miller had to stand on his head in order to keep the Sabres in contention for a victory. For the third game in a row, and second in as many nights, the Sabres were horribly outplayed by their opponent. But unlike the previous two outings,...
