Found October 17, 2011 on Puck Daddy:
While no official announcement has been made regarding the jerseys the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers will be wearing at January's Winter Classic, Philly Sports Daily is reporting that at least one of the mockups below may be the real deal. According to the article, "indications are that this is what the Flyers will be wearing at Citizens Bank Park." As for the Rangers jersey, no one was willing to confirm it, probably because a cream-coloured jersey after Labour Day is just too damn brazen. So where are these indications coming from? Sources, that's who. Mind your business. From Philly Sports Daily: The image first appeared on message boards at the end of September, before Chris Pronger was announced as the team's captain and Kimmo Timonen and Danny Briere were announced as the assistants. That explains why Claude Giroux has the "A" on his jersey. Because it had been so long since they saw it, the sources were not able to 100-percent conf...

How The Flyers Use IR To Beat The Salary Cap

Creative accounting is a part of the NHL in its salary cap era.  The Philadelphia Flyers have a method that is unique to them to exceed the salary cap.  They do not buyout players.  Instead they permanently transfer them to the longterm injury reserve.  Any player who has had a lengthy NHL career has some kind of recurring injury problem that can be played up and turned into...

Rangers Showing Improvement on Offense

The Rangers showed some significant improvement offensively in last night's 4-2 loss to the Islanders at Nassau Coliseum. However, that was only the case when they played even strength hockey, which there wasn't much of since they found themselves in the box eight separate times over the course of three periods.  The first line showed some real signs of chemistry last...

Are the Rangers In Trouble?

Obviously folks, the answer to this question is a resounding NO. It is only three games into the season and while the the team is 0-1-2, thanks to a 4-2 loss to the New York Islanders last night, it is certainly nothing to panic about. With that said, there are obviously things that the team needs to work on. For starters, taking too many penalties. Throughout the team’s first...

Video: Brandon Prust’s Wraparound Goal

… great to see Prust get a goal early on the in the season. Hope to see many more of them this year.

Blog: Not So Special Teams…

The opening game in the North American leg of the 2011-12 New York Rangers season opened last night on Long Island. There is a tendency for most fans to exaggerate the outcome of a Ranger-Islanders game. Depending on the result, it’s either “we’re gonna win the Cup!” or “good Lord, we are the worst team [...]

A few more thoughts on this Rangers’ start

You know, some of the negativity is absolutely crazy. I say that a lot around here. It’s kind of like the NFL, where every loss is Armageddon and every win means Super Bowl. Just look at the coverage of the Giants and Jets in this town, and listen to some of the idiocy on the radio. But that’s a 16-game season, and a loss is pretty big, and a string of losses can be season...

Rangers 4, Canucks 0

Henrik Lundqvist made 40 saves, and the New York Rangers broke open a scoreless game with four goals in the third period to beat the Vancouver Canucks 4-0 on Tuesday night for their first victory of the season. Mike Rupp started the scoring 2:22 into in the third, and Lundqvist did the rest just as he did in the first two periods in keeping the Rangers in the game. Ryan McDonagh...

Lundqvist carries Rangers to first victory of season

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- The dirty old chapeau atop Henrik Lundqvist's head was a crown fit for a King. Because on a night the Rangers were in desperate need of a victory after going the first three games and what seems like a million miles without one, it was...

NHL Winter Classic Ticket Pricing

… via the boys over at Crossing Broad.   Very pricey but this may only happen once so you have to live for today and check out the Rangers and Flyers at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.  Make sure you study this chart. It will be VERY important for the fans trying to dig up [...]

Rookie Read's 4 points lift Flyers over Senators
