Found October 23, 2013 on Kukla's Korner:
As if one couldn't leave well enough alone, via Pro Hockey Talk's Cam Tucker, suspended Colorado Avalanche forward Cody McLeod weighed in on his 5-game sit while speaking with the Denver Post's Mike Chambers, insisting that Red WIngs defenseman Niklas Kronwall's admission of culpability absolves him of some culpability: "I can see where the NHL is coming from," McLeod said in his first public comments about the incident. "They want to get rid of the injuries and I respect that, but I don't necessarily agree with the length of time. But it's out of my hands and we'll just move on." McLeod was pro-active in reaching out to Kronwall, who suffered a concussion after cutting back against the wall — and the grain — when McLeod was on the forecheck. McLeod visited Kronwall during the game at the Pepsi Center. Continue reading "Avalanche forward Cody McLeod insists that he didn’t mean to hurt Red Wings’ Niklas Kronwall"

Young Guns: Colorado Avalanche C Matt Duchene Leads the Charge Forward

Don’t look NHL fans but the Colorado Avalanche are off to a start that even the Sakic/Forsberg teams couldn’t compete with, granted it’s still early in the season but new HC Patrick Roy has this young team in the right direction at last. One of those stars is C Matt Duchene, as Connor Flaska (@CFlaska94) […]

Todd Bertuzzi, Steve Moore will finally meet in court.

Everyone who watches hockey remembers the now infamous Vancouver Canucks moment, when Todd Bertuzzi attacked Colorado’s Steve Moore. It has now been more than ten years since the incident and Moore will finally get his day in court. According to CBC, a new court date for Moore’s civil suit against Bertuzzi has been set. The trial will begin on September 8, 2014 and is scheduled...

Avs' Cody McLeod suspended five games by NHL for Kronwall hit

The NHL on Monday suspended Avalanche forward Cody McLeod five games without pay for his blindside hit on Detroit defenseman Niklas Kronwall last week. McLeod was ejected after being given a five-minute major and a game misconduct penalty in the first period against Detroit on Oct. 17. The Red Wings went on to win that game 4-2 in Denver. The NHL allowed McLeod an in-person meeting...

Red Wings evening news: on Weiss, Wings-Sens tailings, multimedia, prospects and the blueline

I got into something of a Twitter tiff regarding the play of one Stephen Weiss, because I'm with the Free Press's Helene St. James regarding the fact that we've all ignored Weiss's status as having neither played in more than 17 games nor probably having returned to full strength--or confidence--regarding his surgically-repaired left wrist (perhaps exacerbated by...

Todd Bertuzzi, Steve Moore Civil Trial to Start in September 2014

Todd Bertuzzi and Steve Moore are scheduled to meet in court on Sept. 8, 2014. Moore filed a civil suit eight years ago stemming from the incident during an NHL game in 2004, when Bertuzzi grabbed him and punched the back of his head while playing for the Vancouver Canucks. Moore was taken off the ice in a stretcher and suffered a serious vertebrae injury that ended his NHL career...

Alfredsson opens up on life as a Red Wing and meeting his old team

From helmet to the bottom of his socks Daniel Alfredsson was dressed all in red here Monday surrounded by the sea of red seats in the venerable Joe Louis Arena. There was no “C” or “A” on his new winged wheel Detroit Red Wings jersey and to the naked eye there wasn’t a single “Alfredsson” sweater anywhere in the crowd as Detroit played host to the San Jose Sharks. Instead...

Todd Bertuzzi, Steve Moore trial has new start date

It will be more than 10 years since Todd Bertuzzi attacked Steve Moore but a new court date for Moore's civil suit against Bertuzzi has been set. The trial will begin on Sept 8 2014 and is scheduled to last three months before a jury. On March 8 2004 Bertuzzi then playing for the Vancouver Canucks drove Moore then playing for the Colorado Avalanche to the ice with a punch...

HBO’s ’24/7′ Featuring Red Wings, Leafs Leading up to 2014 Winter Classic Begins Dec. 14

One of the casualties of the NHL lockout last year was the Winter Classic, which has become the league’s marquee regular-season event. The cancellation also included HBO not being able to air their popular show called “24/7″, which gives fans a behind the scenes look at the players, coaches and management of the two teams participating in that year’s Winter Classic. This...

Ahead of Red Wings-Senators showdown, Daniel Alfredsson’s in the spotlight again

As you already know, the Detroit Red Wings and Ottawa Senators will tangle tomorrow night in the first game between the teams since Daniel Alfredsson signed with the Red Wings, and while the Red Wings' press corps spent Tuesday addressing the statuses of Jonathan Ericsson (out 2-3 weeks with a shoulder sublaxion), Darren Helm (not coming back Saturday as his groin is an issue...

Red Wings-Senators game-day update post: the circus comes to town; Kronwall ‘nicked,’ Helm improving

The Detroit Red Wings face off against Daniel Alfredsson's former employer in the Ottawa Senators tonight (7:30 PM, FSD/TSN/TVA Sports/97.1 FM), and toes have already been stepped upon: Alfredsson story not that big in Detroit. Hurricanes-Avalanche Preview

The Colorado Avalanche may be the biggest surprise in the NHL so far this season. First-year coach Patrick Roy is particularly pleased with their dramatic improvement defensively. The Avalanche look to continue their outstanding start to 2013-14 on Friday night against the visiting Carolina Hurricanes. Colorado (8-1-0) missed the playoffs in each of the last three seasons, finishing...

Senators-Red Wings Preview

Daniel Alfredsson was more than just the Senators' captain to the people of Ottawa as he became a respected and beloved figure in the city during his 17-season tenure. That fact has never been lost on the 40-year-old as he thanked the fans and the franchise for the outpouring of support over the years, even when a contract impasse led to his surprising departure for the Detroit...

Ottawa Senators knock off Detroit Red Wings 6-1

Captain Present gave Captain Past and his new team a pounding Wednesday night at The Joe. It may not have been the “fruit basket and bottle of wine” Montreal’s Lars Eller gave Edmonton coach Dallas Eakins when he said the Oilers looked like a “junior team” a day earlier but the Senators sure looked like they used as bulletin board material Daniel Alfredsson’s original...
