BC vs. Winnipeg  June 29 Home Opener

Remember in 2011 when history repeated itself in Vancouver?

The Vancouver Canucks choked to death on June 15th, following by an obnoxious riot that ensued throughout the city – complete with fires, helicopters, tear gas, the whole nine yards - like a re-run from ’94.

It took us a while to get over that one.

In fact, you’re probably still not over it, and can’t wait for the Canucks to have their chance in the playoffs again this year.

Just leave your gasoline and balaclavas at home this time, okay?

Anyways – after some good samaritans cleaned up the hooligans’ mess in less than 24 hours, other more important riots happened internationally, we slowly stopped cursing gd Tim Thomas, and began to focus on other mostly-victorious Vancouver teams, like the BC Lions.

Somehow after losing five straight at the beginning of the season, the BC Lions managed to pull off a collasally epic turnaround; perhaps the greatest the CFL has ever seen.

They kept the sporting stars aligned and gave us a complete re-run of 1994, 17 years later.

The BC Lions christened their new stadium, doing what no other team in the CFL has ever done – winning the Grey Cup (for the second time) on home turf.

Since then, Wally Buono stepped down as head coach but stays on as GM, and appointed Mike Benevides as the team’s new leader.
