Jim Williams Media Insider:
Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals saw the Chicago Blackhawks defeat the Boston Bruins by a score of 3-1 at the United Center Saturday night. The win gives Chicago a 3-2 series lead and a chance to close things out in game 6 set for Monday 8.p.m. on NBC. If the trend holds, as I expect that it will, look for NBC to get a Saturday night overall ratings win. Thus far the "peacock," has taken the night's ratings during game 1 and also in game 4. There is no reason that on Saturday night -TV's slowest night of the week - that the Stanley Cup Final game 5 between Chicago and Boston won't bring home another win for NBC.The success of the NHL on NBC might over shadow a fine series between the Blawkhawks and the Bruins as the story of the year in the NHL. It looks like the league and the network's hard work in promoting the sports to the masses has finally paid off. Through five games NBC has surpassed every expectation they had rating wise both on the main network as well as games 2 and 3's lofty numbers on the NBC Sports Network. In the end it does not matter if Chicago or Boston win the Stanley Cup, right now NBC is the clear winner.Jim Williams is a seven-time Emmy Award-winning TV producer, director and writer.

Chicago Blackhawks forward Andrew Shaw turned the puck over just outside of his own zone to Boston Bruins forward Shawn Thornton. Thornton wound up to shoot as Shaw extended his stick to block the shot. The puck deflected off his blade and hit him right in the face near his eye. Shaw laid motionless on the ice as a pool of blood collected on the ice. Shaw didn’t return...
This is one Chicago Blackhawks fan who really has faith in his team. In 2010, the man decided to get a large tattoo on his right arm commemorating the franchise's four championships after the Blackhawks hoisted the Stanley Cup. The key thing to note here is that he got the ink done after they officially won.Well, apparently the fan is opting to put the proverbial horse before...
Jonathan Toews is "doing much better." Patrice Bergeron is "day-to-day." The questions about Marian Hossa and Nathan Horton have subsided, even though both are likely still hurting.

"Johnny is doing...
It’s the Stanley Cup Final, so expect to get hit.
That’s what happened to Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews in the second period of Game 5, as he skated toward the net to shoot on Tuukka Rask. Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk quickly put an end to that, as he came out of nowhere to level Toews.

Patrick Kane and the Chicago Blackhawks have that look again, and another Stanley Cup is within reach.
Kane scored two goals, Corey Crawford made 24 saves and the Blackhawks beat the Boston Bruins 3-1 on Saturday night to take a 3-2 lead in the finals.
Kane had a terrific postseason when Chicago won it all in 2010, including the winning score in a 4-3 overtime victory in Philadelphia...
Patrick Sharp was a young center in the Philadelphia Flyers' organization when he got a lesson from Hall of Famer Bobby Clarke on taking faceoffs. Clarke played 15 seasons in the NHL and won two Stanley Cups, so Sharp listened intently.
He carries the heart of the message with him to this day.
''The biggest thing he told me was, `Get in there, get low and just battle...

Chicago's Jonathan Toews went five-hole on Boston goalie Tuukka Rask for the equalizing goal during the second period of Game 6 of the 2013 Stanley Cup Finals.

Much has been made in the media of Jonathan Toews and Bryan Bickell saying that they are going after Zdeno Chara, and how they are tempting fate, etc.
But here's the thing, the Hawks are going fearlessly to the tough areas of the ice for a change (from Games 2 and 3 at least) and Boston doesn't like it. It is throwing them off their game. Hawk forwards...
