With Ilya Bryzgalov coming to Philadelphia to be the team’s starting goaltender, many wondered what the Flyers how the team would handle 23-year old Sergei Bobrovsky.

They didn’t want to move him, because the potential for him to be a good, or even great, starting NHL goaltender is there. The question then was when would he get playing time?

The answer may have already been answered.

It looks like the Flyers won’t over-work Bryzgalov, as they are giving Bob the start in the team’s 5th game of the season. This averages out to about 17 starts for Bobrovsky for the season, and 65 for Bryz. Of course, this could obviously alter, but it seems the Flyers still have the upmost confidence in Bobrovsky.

He was 3-0-0 this preseason with an incredible .40 goals against average and .984 save percentage. He allowed just 1 goal, saving 62 out of the 63 shots he faced. Last season, Bob was 2-1-0 with a 2.35 GAA against the Senators.

The Flyers, however, have not fared well against the Senators in Ottawa as of late. They are an abysmal 0-5-2 in their last 7 games in Ottawa, and Jason Spezza has had their number (two goals, six assists in last 5 games in Ottawa vs Flyers).

The Flyers come into the game at 3-0-1 on the season. The Senators have started slow, going 1-4-0 in their first five games of the season.

In other lineup news, the Flyers have called up Harry Zolnierczyk from the Phantoms for tonight’s game. Zolnierczyk has a goal and three assists in 4 games in the AHL, and was called up because 4th line forward Andreas Nodl is not available tonight (soreness).
