I wasn’t sure if I was ever actually going to be able to write this post, but here it is. The Bruins will kick off their lockout-shortened 2013 season tonight at home against a fellow Eastern Conference powerhouse squad in the New York Rangers.
Last season, many hailed the Rangers as one of the deepest and most complete teams in the league and they proved that to be true with an Eastern Conference best 109 points in 2011-2012. Well, they’re still being hailed as such…except now they’ve got Rick Nash.
The Bruins, in their own right, finished second in the East last season and have pretty much kept their entire team in tact while adding youngster Dougie Hamilton and God’s Ray Bourque’s son Chris Bourque, who had a fantastic (one-game) preseason and should be a solid role player for this team. They’ve got a pretty young squad that should continue to develop and get better with more experience.
Oh, and first-liner Nathan Horton is back and reportedly 100%.
What it all adds up to is a se...

Boston loves its hockey, and the fans made that known on Saturday night during the Bruins’ opening game against the Rangers.
The buzz around the game was evident from start to finish, and it even spilled over to the realm of social media. There, familiar friends Jack Edwards and Rene Rancourt caught nationwide attention, while Milan Lucic‘s opening salvo to the season couldn’t...
Hopes are high for the Boston Bruins this season and the team’s goalie should be one of the biggest reasons. Tuukka Rask holds a distinct honor in Bruins’ history.
Rask has played 103 total games with Boston, and he’s the franchise’s leader in save percentage. Rask has a save percentage of .926, which is .005 better than Tim Thomas, who’s No. 2 on the list.
Rask has received...
The Bruins are finally a few hours away from puck drop, and the questions surrounding this team will finally begin to be answered.
With the new year comes new expectations, and for this team, those expectations are high. Two years removed from raising the Stanley Cup, and one year since a first-round playoff exit, the B’s are looking to get back on track — and quickly, considering...
The New York Rangers' home opener got off to an ominous start before the puck ever dropped Sunday night at Madison Square Garden, when Daniel Rodriguez took the ice to perform the national anthem in place of legendary anthem singer John Amirante, a fixture at Rangers games for more than three decades.
When Rodriguez emerged from the Zamboni tunnel, the Blueshirts faithful booed...
As with every single one of their “This Is SportsCenter” commercials, you will finish watching ESPN’s latest ad and crack a smile. The premise is incredible hard to understand but the YouTube description breaks it down thankfully. “SportsCenter cafeteria has a new chef and Henrik Lundqvist is the only person that can understand him.” See, that wasn’t too difficult...
How long was the lockout again? And the Bruins had how little of a training camp?
Those might be tough questions to answer after watching the B’s battle the Rangers on Saturday night, after a wild first period ended with Boston on top 1-0. Milan Lucic, who some hinted might not quite be at his playing weight quite yet, answered those critics by scoring the first goal of the year...
Some high expectations are being placed on the Bruins this season, and Tuukka Rask will have to shoulder much of that load. Such is the plight of a starting goaltender after all, especially one taking over for Tim Thomas.
Despite that pressure, Rask looked perfectly comfortable between the pipes as the No. 1 goalie on Saturday, leading the B’s to a 3-1 victory in the first game...
If you want one word to sum up the New York Rangers tonight feel free to use sloppy. The Rangers were defeated 3-1 by the Boston Bruins and were second best in almost every facet. Throughout the season the goals in each game (as well as a brief game summary) will be broken down right here so keep on coming back. Let’s get in to it.
Boston 1 Rangers 0
The Rangers got caught on a...
In an astounding turn of events in which ESPN acknowledged the existence of hockey, their new SportsCenter TV ad features Sesame Street’s Swedish Chef and the only person who can understand him: New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist. And this concludes NHL coverage on ESPN for this year. See you at the next lockout.
BOSTON — There was a meeting of champions in the Bruins’ dressing room following their 3-1 win over the Rangers on opening night.
Olympic gold medal gymnast Aly Raisman and her family were in the B’s room after the game, taking in the scene and in Raisman’s case, taking in some congratulatory remarks.
Bruins players one by one stopped by to introduce themselves to the Needham...

With a somewhat revamped offense and Rick Nash in the lineup, the New York Rangers' offense was quiet in their season opening 3-1 loss to the Boston Bruins.
Obviously, it was the first game and players still have to get used to each other, but nevertheless, the Blueshirts did not generate enough offensive pressure. While the Bruins' defensemen are big and do a good job...
Really smart pickup by Armstrong and Hitchcock....more to come.
The Garden was rocking on Sunday night as the New York Rangers took on the hated, despised and what ever other thing you could think of, Pittsburgh Penguins. Though we all were looking forward to the start of the season last night, I think its fair to say that every Rangers fan was looking to [...]

...first off, man it was amazing to be watching hockey again. Felt like a huge void was being filled.
...unfortunately, the Rangers play had many of us wishing the lockout was still going on. Having said that, it's the first game and as Adam...
