After two consecutive drubbings - a 7-3 loss to the Montreal Canadiens followed by a 4-0 defeat to the Toronto Maple Leafs - the Winnipeg Jets head south of the border tonight to face the Buffalo Sabres, an equally middling team only three points behind the Jets in the standings. The Sabres are 3-6-1 in their last ten, and are coming off a 4-2 loss last night to the Carolina Hurricanes. As Lloyd says in Dumb and Dumber: “So you’re telling me there’s a chance!” There’ll be some changes to the Jets lineup - centre Bryan Little draws back in after missing eight games with bruised foor, while Alexander Burmistrov will miss tonight’s tilt with a “mid-level” injury, which perhaps explains his less-than-torrid play as of late. For Those Expecting Or Waiting For A Derek Roy Trade….

For the past 24 hours or so there has been a rumor roaming around the internet about an “imminent” trade involving the Sabres’ Derek Roy.  Well after doing some digging I’m here to tell you that while a trade involving Roy is not out of question, the reports by a certain site and others saying that a “blockbuster” deal is close are not true. Buffalo is very tough to...

Roy Injury Keeps Sabres In Funk

Losing center Derek Roy is the last thing the reeling Sabres needed.“Derek's going to be out for a little bit of time,” Buffalo coach Lindy Ruff told reporters after his team lost to Carolina 4-2 Friday night. The Sabres are 2-6-1 in their last nine, 3-7-2 in their last 12 and 8-13-4 since Nov. 12. The good news: Returning injured defenseman Tyler Myers and wounded forwards...

For The Sabres, It’s Time To Figure Things Out

Eleven. That is how many goals the Buffalo Sabres have in their last five games. If you take away the shocking offensive output from Tuesday against Edmonton, that leaves you with seven goals in four games. Compare that to the fifteen, or twelve if you do not count Tuesday, that the team has given up. It does not take a rocket scientist to realize that being outscored 15-11 (12-7...

Now or Never: The time has come for Regier to prove his worth

If you ask me, Time Warner Cable and MSG couldn't have picked a better time to block out Sabres fans from watching MSG broadcasts. In fact, if you're missing out on the games, I can assure you that a switch is not necessary, as you haven't been missing much. It goes without saying, I think, that the play of the Sabres has possibly reached a season-long low over the...

Johnny Oduya scored 57 seconds into overtime, lifting the Winnipeg Jets to a 2-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night. Buffalo's Ville Leino believed he scored the apparent go-ahead goal with 1:45 remaining, but play had been whistled dead prior to Leino jabbing...

GARTH: 40 Mile Marathon

Yesterday, Lindy Ruff tossed the car keys to Ryan Miller and said: "Drive it like you stole it for the next 40 miles". Tonight, Miller and the Sabres aim to turn their season around with a hard sixty minute egffort in Raleigh. Carolina hosts the Buffalo Sabres on Friday at the RBC Center for the third of four meetings between the teams this season. The teams have...
