Stevie Johnson is an emotional guy. However, he's not a showboat or a glory hound. Spend a few minutes reading his Twitter feed or listening to an interview and you realize that he is a humble person, a family man, and a lover of life. But he's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination just like you or I are not. The same passion that feeds his enthusiasm for the game and his fans can lead him into trouble. We saw that yesterday with his controversial touchdown celebration that mocked Plaxico Burress and eventually led to a 15 yard penalty that proved costly in a close game. The media and fans exploded with anger at Stevie on the Internet and the printed page. The fans took this opportunity to insinuate that Stevie isn't a Buffalo kind of guy. He's a diva, a spoiled superstar who shouldn't be re-signed.    You know what? This kind of talk is ridiculous. A group of the populace want to paint a picture of Stevie that isn't necessarily true for starte...

Ryan Miller Health Report

from Kevin Snow at the Buffalo Sabres website, An optimistic Ryan Miller said today that he plans to skate as the third goalie at Tuesday’s morning skate, and is targeting Wednesday as his first full practice since being injured in a collision with Milan Lucic on November 12. Miller skated lightly and stopped a few pucks prior to today’s practice. Afterwards he spoke to the media...

Sabres sign Finley to multi-year deal

Former Fighting Sioux defenseman Joe Finley has been signed by the Buffalo Sabres. If you have lost track of Joe Finley, this is the first year since leaving college that big Joe has been remotely healthy. If you go to Joe Finley Hockey fights page you will see that Joe has been wracking up the fights as well since leaving college. Sounds like Finley is doing what ever it takes...

Sabres Fail To Convert In The Clutch, Lose At Home Again

Buffalo, NY – There’s something about the Buffalo Sabres playing the teams at the bottom of the NHL standings – they just can’t seem to beat them.  Jhonas Enroth played a strong game, making 29 saves, but even that couldn’t lead the Sabres to victory as they fell 2-1 to the New York Islanders in front of a restless and riot-ready crowd at the First Niagara Center. The...

Fight Video: Zack Kassian, Matt Martin, enthusiasm over accuracy

Buffalo Sabres fans have been waiting for Zach Kassian to bring his particular brand of whimsy to the NHL, especially after that exercise in pacifism against the Boston Bruins after Lucic/Miller. On Tuesday night, the Sabres played the New York Islanders; in his third NHL game, Kassian had his first NHL fight against Matt Martin. What it lacked in accuracy it made up for in enthusiasm...

Banged-up Sabres sending three back to AHL

The banged-up Buffalo Sabres are healthy enough to afford returning three players to the minors.

Ryan Miller isn’t sure Milan Lucic concussed him anymore

One of the truly deplorable things about the NHL's supplemental discipline process is when injuries are politicized; like, for example, hastily reporting the severity of an injury with the hope that an opposing player would be punished for it. Since the NHL takes injuries into account when doling out punishment, the process invites it. So before any official decision was handed...
