I don’t know what the opposite of a Bucket List is, but “have an arena full of people roar with approval when I get blasted in the face with a hockey puck” is on mine. That’s what happened during the third period of Tuesday night’s Ducks/Wild game at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. In this clip (courtesy of Sportress Of Blogitude’s Weed Against Speed, the only Minnesota Wild fan on the entire Internet), Anaheim defenseman Cam Fowler dumps the puck back into the offensive zone, remembering that “dumps” means “hits it as hard as humanly f**king possible” and “the offensive zone” is “referee Dennis LaRue’s shoulder and head area”. The ref goes down like a ton of bricks and the crowd loves it, assumedly because the Wild had gotten a few bad calls early in the game. LaRue got up and finished the game (like a boss), which leaves us with a question: What is most socially uncomfortable? 1. An Xcel Energy Center full of people thinking it’s awesome that you’ve suff

Cullen to play the wing against Anaheim

TUESDAY'S STORY LINE: Kris Foucault, who was recalled from Houston yesterday, will make his NHL debut tonight. The 21-year old said it is a dream come true and joked he hopes he doesn't fall in his first shift. Foucault's parents, Gary and Heather, were flying in from Calgary this afternoon and will see their son make his debut in St. Paul. Foucault will be on a line...

Trade Deadline: Minnesota Wild’s Marek Zidlicky isn’t leaving, yet

As it turns out, Minnesota Wild defenceman Marek Zidlicky is not being traded to the New Jersey Devils. Marek Zidlicky, shown in this file photo, is suggesting he may be on his way out. Management says otherwise. With Zidlicky (0 goals, 13 assists, -7, 22 PIM) being a side distraction in the downfall of the Wild this season, it seems the headache would be dealt. Zidlicky...

Video: Referee drilled by puck

A somewhat scary incident played itself out during the third period of the Anaheim Ducks-Minnesota Wild game Tuesday night at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Late in the third period with the Ducks leading 2-1, Anaheim defenseman Cam Fowler was dumping the puck into the offensive zone when his hard-hitting slapper bore down [...]

Todd Cordell: New Jersey Devils, Minnesota Wild talking Marek Zidlicky trade

Darren Dreger of TSN started a buzz this morning when he tweeted out that Marek Zidlicky has agreed to waive his no-trade clause to come to New Jersey. Dreger noted that no deal was done as there was still some work to do; however, the sense many got from his tweet was that a deal was imminent. Ever since then, this story has been an absolute mess to follow and cover. A few hours...

Jets 4, Wild 3, SO

Evander Kane had two goals in regulation and the winner in the fourth round of a shootout, lifting the Winnipeg Jets to a 4-3 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Thursday night. Wild goalie Niklas Backstrom stopped two of the first three shots he saw in the shootout, but he fell to 3-5 this season and 15-29 in his career in those situations. The Wild ended their streak of four regulation...
