Today marks the first weekend of NHL hockey and the league is offering a packed slate of games. Our piece is here to help you sort through the available players and build a dominant daily game roster. Draft Street Picks: Sleepers Montreal’s young guns line lived up to the billing in the opener. Can’t afford Lars Eller? Gallagher is a great consolation. Brendan Gallagher – Canadiens vs. Flyers – $10,340: The excitement coming off of last Tuesday night centers around Lars Eller but his linemate Brendan Gallagher showed plenty of promise in the opener and this line could be ready for big things. The price is right on Gallagher. Paul Martin – Penguins vs. Sabres – $5,548: Martin spent nearly 25 minutes on the ice in the opener. With Kris Letang still out with an injury, Martin will again get some big powerplay minutes as part of a strong offensive team. Martin should be able to get off the schnide tonight. Francois Beauchemin – Ducks vs. Wild – $4,243: The Ducks got blown out in their opener (6-1) and the veteran D-man couldn’t beau-st about a strong +/- rating as a result. Still, he plays on their top defensive pairing and will see plenty of time in a contest that should wind up much closer. Beau Bennett – Penguins vs. Sabres – $7,558: BB found himself on the scoresheet in the Penguins first contest in 12.5 minutes on the ice. He didn’t see the second line minutes that were projected, but, you’re not paying for them here either. James Neal missed practice this morning and it’s looking like he won’t suit up tonight. Bennett skated alongside Evgeni Malkin today and is likely to stick with him tonight. The Sabres have only given up 3 goals through 2 games, but, they haven’t faced the Pens yet either. Ryan Miller was busy last night making 45 saves, he could get the night off. Draft Street Picks: Busts Marc-Andre Fleury – Penguins vs. Sabres – $24,037: I’m actually quite high on Fleury this season and I think his Game 1 shutout is an important step in his vindication over the course of this season. With that said, it’s foolish to put too much stock in one game and that appears to be what the costing algorithm is doing here. There is better value between the pipes this week. Nazim Kadri – Leafs vs. Senators – $9,021: The price is too high on Kadri who has been bumped to the 3rd line and saw just 11:53 time on ice on Wednesday. Draft Street Picks: Picks Claude Giroux – Flyers vs. Canadiens – $13,016: Giroux had a quiet opener with just 5 shots, no points, and finishing even in +/- but he leads forwards in TOI through the first 4 days of the season. He should get plenty of chances against a Canadiens D that had a suspect start to the season against the Leafs. Alex Ovechkin – Capitals vs. Starts – $20,583: Saturday’s most expensive forward has lived up to the price tag through his first two games and I’m willing to pay the price and ride the hot streak. Craig Anderson – Sens vs. Leafs – $18,525: Anderson was outstanding last night picking up the shutout. Why not ride the hot hand with him tonight. There are cheaper options out there in Emery, Holtby, Backstrom and Enroth, but Anderson is worth the price. Chris Kunitz – Pens vs. Sabres – $9,175: Kunitz should benefit from Crosby tonight and is worth the price. Don’t be surprised if the Pens fill the net with Enroth in goal for Buffalo.   So there you have it, a couple of names to get you started as you build your team.
