Chris Tanev Edition Boxscore | Recap  Well, that game turned on a dime. For about 58 minutes, the Vancouver Canucks slogged through a muddled effort that looked like they had left their skateguards on they way the Oilers were flying. They had quite a few shots, but they were perimeter shots, and hardly quality chances. The Vancouver specials. And then Kevin Bieksa worked his late game seeing-eye magic again, and all of a sudden we had a game again. And just before Canuck fans had to endure another shootout, the unbelievable happened. Chris Tanev scored. Love ‘Em 1. Um, Chris Tanev? You can’t predict sports. That’s why it’s great. So when Chris Tanev found himself with the puck in the slot thanks to a series of slick Sedin passes and roofed it top corner, that’s why we watch. The Canucks exploded off the bench in much the same way Canuck fans exploded off their couch when they saw the steady defender finally, finally get his first goal. The Canucks were so overjoyed they were serenading him en masse in his post-game interview. That was probably the best moment of the season so far. 2. Bobby Lu Another game, another start, another great performance, another win. This Roberto Luongo fella has a bright future as a starter in this league. He was up to his usual dexterous tricks in Edmonton, guarding the net like it was a bar that the underage Oilers weren’t getting into. If Taylor Hall scored, Chris Tanev would still have a goose egg. (Steve Bosch/PNG) It’s nice that his last games in Vancouver will leave a better memory than if he was traded right after the Los Angeles series. Remember, if Taylor Hall scored, Chris Tanev would still have a goose egg. 3. A Hoarse Horse I have no idea why this man was wearing a horse head, but I love it. Reminds me of this. Hate ‘Em 1. Rocking the Crease It’s been sunshine and lollipops between Roberto Luongo and Cory Schneider in this midst of all this. Both parties are saying the right things, and seem to understand the situation will resolve itself eventually. So it’s unfortunate to see Schneider’s agent Mike Liut spouting off to The Vancouver Sun about how this was totally supposed to be Cory’s year. This is goaltending in Vancouver. You don’t like it, wait a week. 2. The Lacklustre Blueline Kevin Bieksa‘s tying goal was his first point of the year and will go a long way towards people forgetting the series of brain cramps he had earlier in the game, highlighted by the sequence that allowed Ryan Smyth to score shorthanded. Jason Garrison was complicit on Ales Hemsky’s goal, and Alex Edler was once again nowhere to be found. It’s been quite the lethargic start for the blueline collectively. 3. Paging Chris Higgins Another game, another invisible performance by Chris Higgins who has had a horrible start to the year. He doesn’t look at all like the guy that was one of the best Canucks through the first few months of 2011-2012. When Ryan Kesler and David Booth get back, Higgins will find himself squeezed out of the top six and needing to play better than the multitude of winger options for the bottom six. Right now he isn’t doing that. CLICK HERE CHECK OUT THE VANCOUVER CANUCKS CLUBHOUSE TODAY ON NWSB!
