Hockey guru Don Cherry picked out a real winner of a suit for the official return of hockey to Winnipeg as the Jets hosted the Montreal Canadiens.  And in doing so it would appear he may have sent a message to Craig Seger. While hockey might not get the attention that the NBA does, Don Cherry is an original.  He’s been wearing these weird suits for a very long time.   And at least these are super over the top obvious. With Seger, you almost think that he likes his suits.  Actually I think Seger probably does which makes it all the more pathetic.  While I don’t think Hockey is classy persay, I do think that Cherry is a class act.

Don Cherry May Face Legal Action After Calling Ex-NHL Enforcers 'Pukes,' 'Hypocrites' (Video)

It's not just the suits that are drawing attention to Don Cherry these days. The colorful hockey commentator and former Bruins head coach may face legal action from former NHL players Stu Grimson, Chris Nilan and Jim Thomson after calling out the trio of ex-enforcers. Cherry ranted during a "Coach's Corner" segment on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada, labeling the...

Don Cherry might get sued by former tough guys.

I do not receive my cable from Midcontinent anymore because I recently switched to Direct Television, the first thing that I discovered is that there is no CBC on Direct TV, something that I didn't consider when I switched to satellite television. That means I can no longer get the coaches corner, while I had read about this story on the various hockey blogs, this was the first...

Former Predator Grimson called out by Cherry

Stu Grimson is still scratching his head as to how he got involved in this controversy. CBC commentator Don Cherry, during one of his infamous rants on Hockey Night in Canada's "Coach's Corner," lumped Grimson in with fellow former NHL enforcers Chris Nilan and Jim Thomson, calling them "pukes" and, in essence, put the words in their mouths, they want...

Don Cherry regrets calling former enforcers ‘pukes’

By MATT WILSON Earlier this week in Coach’s Corner, Don Cherry took a pro-fighting stance in the age of Brendan Shanahan attempting to clean up the game. More specifically, his word choice wasn’t the best: “pukes.” That was directed at three former NHL enforcers who have either turned the other cheek in their retirement years, or are hypocrites. Cherry suggested...

Don Cherry backlash: Ex-fighters want apology, get with lawyers

Every few months, there's a hysterical "this time he's gone TOO FAR!" outcry over something CBC curmudgeon Don Cherry blurts out on "Coach's Corner." This time, it was Cherry's rant last week about former hockey fighters who now question fighting's place in the game: "But the ones that I am really disgusted with -- and I hate to say this...

Put It To Bed Boys

from Damien Cox of the Toronto Star, Boys, boys, boys. Let’s all grow up here. Lots of name-calling going on between Don Cherry and a group of former NHL enforcers these days, but not a whole lot being said, at least not much more than the kind of insults and taunts you might hear in a schoolyard. Now, maybe we shouldn’t expect more. But maybe we should. See, the issues of...

Howard Berger: Cherry, MacLean Phenomenon Endless; Unparalleled

TORONTO (Oct. 10) - I'm not sure why I still find myself surprised over the emotions generated by Don Cherry and Ron MacLean in their weekly appearance on Hockey Night In Canada - a television phenomenon, by the way, that will not be matched in most of our lifetimes. May God be with the person (or persons) that ultimately assumes ownership of that time-slot on Saturday nights...

Don Cherry Raving Like A Lunatic

It's what he does. But will he finally talk his way off of "Hockey Night in Canada"? Well, maybe.

Pens enforcer MacIntyre not interested in changing

The debate about fighting in hockey intensified last week when Canadian hockey commentator Don Cherry called former enforcers Chris Nilan, Stu Grimson and Jim Thomson "hypocrites and turncoats" for coming out against it.

The Wrath Of Grapes

As Brendan Shanahan leads the NHL into a new era of greater player safety, Don Cherry is mad as hell. Stu Hackel writes the outspoken commentator has become an embarrassment.
