from Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News, The Stars official stance on Jamie Benn is that he will be “re-assessed” on Sunday after a hard hit by Phoenix’s Martin Hanzal in the final two minutes of Dallas’ 2-1 loss to the Coyotes Saturday. They are not listing any injury at this time. While the Stars won’t say it, they definitely are concerned about a potential concussion for Benn. continued No penalty on this hit.  Was it late, from the blindside, headshot?

Roussel an unsung hero for Stars thus far

In the final minute of Thursday's 5-2 win by the Dallas Stars over the defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings at Staples Center, Antoine Roussel scored his fifth goal of the season for Dallas, flipping in an empty netter, to cap the night's scoring. But besides the fact that the French-born winger already has found the back of the net five times, which ranks him...

Stars look to captialize on long home stretch

FRISCO, Texas-- With a 5-4-1 record at American Airlines Center so far this season, the Dallas Stars' home record isn't quite where second-year head coach Glen Gulutzan would like it to be. However, the Stars will have plenty of opportunities to better their mark at the American Airlines Center as nine of their next 11 games will be at home, including the start of a four...

Dallas Stars working to re-sign Derek Roy

If the Dallas Stars get their way, Derek Roy‘s name won’t feature in trade rumors for much longer. According to Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News, the club is currently working to negotiate a contract extension with Roy ahead of the April 3rd trade deadline. Fortunately for the Dallas club, the 29-year-old center seems to want the same thing.“They’ve been talking, so...

Brenden Morrow On The Trade Talk

from Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News, I talked to Brenden Morrow about the April 3 trade deadline, and he had a refreshing point of view. Morrow knows that there’s a very good chance he could be traded, as he can become an unrestricted free agent in the summer and the Stars appear to have no interest in signing him. At age 34, he believes he still has plenty to...

Struggling Coyotes face streaking Stars

Dallas' power-play unit is starting to find its rhythm, and not surprisingly, the Stars are quickly accumulating goals and points. The Phoenix Coyotes are struggling to keep opponents from scoring, regardless of how many skaters are on the ice. The Stars try to build on another strong performance and win their third in a row Saturday night in Phoenix. With a 5-2 victory over...

Bill Meltzer: Star Gazing: Two Defensive Breakdowns Prove Costly

The Dallas Stars played a solid enough road game in Phoenix last night to stay competitive against the Coyotes but a pair of defensive breakdowns proved costly in a 2-1 loss that snapped the Stars' two-game mini winning streak. Kari Lehtonen had no prayer of stopping either goal, as Phoenix build a 2-0 lead by the middle stages of the game. On the first goal, gifted Coyotes...

AHL, CHL report and the Week Ahead 3/11-3/17

Texas Stars Texas had another tough week as they lost both of their games last week to extend their losing streak to five games. One of those losses was in the shootout so they did manage at least one point. Jack Campbell and Cristopher Nilstorp split starts last week and both guys struggled. Campbell was pulled midway through the second period of his start after allowing...

Photo by John Russell/NHLI via Getty Images The Western Conference has turned into a complete logjam of points and with Columbus on a tear right now, only 7 points separates 4th place from 15th. Nashville and Dallas are tied at 26 points; two and three spots out of eighth place. The time for overtime/shootout losses are over and it’s time where every point counts including the...
