Thoughts on Both Teams
Predators: Nashville looks to get back on the winning track back at Bridgestone Arena Monday. The Predators have lost four of their last five games, which is unacceptable in a shortened season.
Scoring has been at a premium once again as of late. In the last 120:00 of play, the Preds have not scored a goal. Obviously there is a trend of inconsistency throughout the lineup, but that is something head coach Barry Trotz will have to get around.
Expect Trotz to return to the "normal" lines, as seen above. The coaching staff will have to press the reset button and see what happens throughout the game. There isn't a rule against changing up the lines in the middle of game. Be ready for anything with the lineups.
Trotz will not be able to go with seven defensemen because Hal Gill was reinjured Saturday night in Detroit. Gill has an upper body injury and is expected to be out. Face-off master Paul Gaustad could be back in the lineup after being out with a lower body injury suffered last Monday in Colorado. The Preds have Gaustad listed as "questionable."
The three keys to winning are 1) Score the first goal; 2) Support Rinne; and 3) Quality over quantity (shots).
Stars: Monday night is the first game of the back-to-back for the Dallas Stars. After the game in the Music City, the Stars have to be ready to play in less than 24 hours against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Dallas has forward depth that catch will many defenses off guard in the league. Head coach Glen Gulutzan has spread out the offense into the top three lines, while having a gritty fourth line including former Predator Vernon Fiddler.
The addition of Reilly Smith out of Miami University has firmed up the scoring threat by allowing Gulutzan to move the team's third ranked scorer Michael Ryder to the third line. Also adding the ageless wonder--no not Teemu Selanne--Jaromir Jagr to the lineup has added a threat to keep teams' eyes on when he hits the ice.
Once Ray Whitney returns to the lineup after recovering from an injury, they could be a dangerous team in the regular season and certainly in the playoffs, if the Stars can get in.
However, the current problem with Dallas is their defense. Two defensemen, who are often in the lineup, are out with injuries and left the defense without much strength. Not to mention the injury of starting goaltender Kari Lehtonen, who is the anchor to this team.
Monday night's game could become a scoring contest, which is exactly what the Stars want when facing the Predators.
Dallas Stars' Players to Watch:
#68 Jaromir Jagr
#14 Jamie Benn
#73 Michael Ryder

There is nothing more enjoyable as a fan than to see a player grow up before your very eyes. And in the last four years we have had the chance in Dallas to witness the growth of Jamie Benn at a rapid pace and seemingly on the elevator to greatness.
This week was clearly no exception as he had a very memorable stretch of games, including one of those nights - on Saturday against...

If there was one team that an injury depleted Stars defense would want to play, it’s the Nashville Predators.
Michael Ryder is on his way back to the Montreal Canadiens.
TSN’s Bob McKenzie reported via Twitter on Tuesday that the Habs have acquired Ryder in a trade with the Dallas Stars. According to McKenzie, forward Erik Cole heads to Dallas in exchange for Ryder. It’s unclear at this point whether or not there are any more parts to this deal.

By: Miranda Martin Miranda@PredneckNation.com It was starting to look like the Nashville Predators were on to something on the scoring front. After averaging just 21 shots per game in the first quarter of the season, the Predators knew they were going to need to start shooting for the victories. Out of the first 12 games alone, five of the Predator’s ...

It’s February 25th, 19 games played…do you know where your Nashville Predators are?
In this wacky 48-game season, that’s a tricky question to answer for any team. When you look at the way the Predators’ results have taken shape, it becomes downright baffling.
By their own admission, and by the observation of even the slightly objective fan ...
The Nashville Predators were shutout once again for the second straight night as they fall 4-0 to the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena.
Unable to convert on the many chances they had, the Predators couldn’t put a shot past Jimmy Howard, who recorded his first shutout of the season by stopping all 33 shots that came his way.

It appears yet another Swedish goaltender is coming overseas to the NHL. Viktor Fasth, the most notable, has done well for himself at the age of 30 being undefeated at this point of the season coming from the Swedish Elite League. Now rising into the NHL is Cristopher Nilstorp, 29, of the Dallas Stars.
