After setting the franchise record 15th consecutive home win, the Red Wings (29-15-1) have an opportunity to take sole possession of first place in absurdly tight Central Division tonight when they visit the Stars (24-19-1). DET have won three straight and eight of their last 11, yet still find themselves third in the Central. But as the “19” are all to aware, DET are not the...
As the Detroit Red Wings’ players tucked themselves into bed in Phoenix after yet another very late flight on Red Bird II, they could, at least fore a few hours, anyway, prepare for their day of rest and recuperation knowing that their 5-0 win over Buffalo on Monday and their gritty 3-2 shootout win over Dallas on Tuesday placed the team in rare territory:
This morning, the Red...
Henrik Zetterberg scored the first of Detroit's three goals in the opening period and the Red Wings broke a franchise record with their 15th straight home victory, a 5-0 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Monday.
It is the longest single-season winning streak by an NHL team at home since 1976 when Philadelphia won 20 in a row to match a league mark set by Boston during the 1929...
Ever want to know more about hockey's quietest superstar, Nick Lidstrom? Of course you do. We already know he's perfect in every way. But now, thanks to Gary's new series NHL 36 (anyone know why it's called that?) TPH will be the next player profiled: Hit the jump for the details.
The NHL and NHL Original Productions announced Monday that Detroit...
On paper, the deck is severely stacked against the Dallas Stars' (24-19-1) bid to avoid a three-game losing streak when they take on the Detroit Red Wings (29-15-1) at the American Airlines Center tonight. The game starts at 7:30 PM CST and will be broadcast locally on Fox Sports Southwest.
This is the third of four meetings between the teams this season, and the final one...
DET (28-15-1) will try to make franchise history tonight with a 15th consecutive home victory. Coach Babcock thinks the streak is spiffy, and all: “I want to win tomorrow. For me, that’s how simple it is. It’s always nice to have streaks and all that, but you need to get two points.”
BUF (19-20-5) have lost eight straight road games in regulation for the first time...
Dallas Stars forward Jamie Benn, the team's scoring leader with 42 points, underwent an appendectomy on Sunday afternoon, the Stars reported on their website. Benn will be out approximately 10 days to two weeks. He was resting comfortably and is expected to make a full recovery.
Jiri Hudler scored in the second round of the shootout, Detroit's Ty Conklin was perfect in all three rounds, and the Red Wings beat the Dallas Stars 3-2 on Tuesday night.

There was a time late last season when the Red Wings couldn't buy a win at home. They were blown out and booed off their ice. The off-season came, and they talked about playing better at Joe Louis Arena. On Monday night, the talk ended. The Wings walked the walk again and trampled Buffalo, 5-0, to break a 47-year-old franchise record with their 15th straight home victory.
It was an optional skate this morning at American Airlines Center, but Detroit Red Wings coach Mike Babcock ran through topics ranging from breakfast to breaking bad habits on the road.
Red Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom is comfortable in his role on the ice as team leader and in the locker room as senior statesman. The seven-time Norris Trophy winner rarely, if ever, refuses an interview or photograph.
Wings' streak at home hits 15
The Red Wings fell into the same old pattern as usual on the road Tuesday.
