Courtesy of our good friend at The Royal Half, we bring you video of a Devils fan's worst nightmare, save for Zach Parise in Broadway blue. This unlucky soul, Chris, as we know him for now, had the displeasure of coming back from vacation to find his cubicle spectacularly decked out in Kings gear: Now, it probably stands to reason that Chris threw a few playful jabs around the office as his Devils advanced past the Panthers, Flyers and Rangers and into the Stanley Cup Final against Los Angeles. The rest of the office, who certainly adopted the Kings if for no other reason than to wipe the silly grin off their co-worker's face, added some silver and black pizzazz to Chris' desk when he was on vacation. Tonight's Healthy Scratches has reached out to the brilliant architects of this trolling Picasso for comment, and will happily relay their thoughts if afforded the chance.

NHL plans to take Devils from owner

Hockey is getting ready to freeze out New Jersey Devils owner Jeff Vanderbeek. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman is preparing to take control of the money-losing hockey franchise in the event Vanderbeek fails to refinance the Devils' debt before a looming Aug. 14 deadline. In recent days, the commissioner's office has told potential suitors to be ready in case he moves on the...

Does Patrik Elias of the Devils have the Kings’ winning Stanley Cup puck?

The L.A. Kings have possession of the Stanley Cup, and at the end of the day that’s likely all they care about. However, the game-winning puck would certainly look nice in a trophy case right next to their massive piece of championship hardware. The problem is the Kings don’t seem to know where it is. What we do know is that the puck was on the ice as the final horn sounded at...

Kings fan takes out classified ad to mock New Jersey Devils

This “announcement” was placed in today’s Star-Ledger. And the picture, it comes courtesy of Getty’s Mark Fischel. So if you’re keeping score at home let’s recap. Today alone we’ve had word that the NHL is planning to take over the Devils, though the NHL denies it, and now a Kings fan was able to place an ad in New Jersey’s local paper mocking the hometown hockey...

Report: NHL Making Plans to Take Control of New Jersey Devils if Debt Not Paid

The Cinderella story almost came through for the New Jersey Devils. But now, instead of a Stanley Cup win and the proceeds from a great postseason run bailing out the financially struggling franchise, the NHL appears to be poised to take over the club, the New York Post reports. If Devils owner Jeff Vanderbeek can't refinance the team's debt before Aug. 14, the league will...

NHL reportedly planning to take control of the New Jersey Devils

Despite a run to the Stanley Cup Finals, the New Jersey Devils are losing money. Which probably explains their change in stance on opposing teams buying tickets for games in the Prudential Center earlier this season. Owner Jeff Vanderbeek is reportedly in the final stages of a deal for a majority stake in the team that would help pay some of $77 million in past due debt, but according...

Surprise! NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly denies reported NHL takeover of Devils

Early this morning, the New York Post’s Josh Koshan claimed that the NHL will be taking over the New Jersey Devils in order to ensure that the Devils will make the $77 million payment the team has to pay to help defray the $200 million in arena debt the franchise is saddled with. Not surprisingly, USA Today’s Kevin Allen received a, “No way, we’re not doing that at all...

Vacationing NJ Devils Fan will be Given a Kings Welcome Upon Return

'Chris' is apparently a big New Jersey Devils fan. And he's on vacation. And he works at a company that has no problem with his co-workers turning his cubicle into an LA Kings shrine. The paper... Full story at Bob's Blitz ~ http://www.bobsblitz.com

Goalies—looking past, up, and forward

The Stanley Cup is about to head out on its Summer tour, so it’s time to take a look at what else is going on. Not that there isn’t hockey to be had, it’s just the emphasis has shifted to the back office, where the deals are already starting to take place. But first—Martin Brodeur. If anyone had asked back in November if Brodeur was going to be playing past April, the...

Red Wings Debate: Alexander Semin or Zach Parise

The Red Wings have money to spend this year, and whether or not they had planned on it, they will be forced to spend money to bring big free agents here once again to put Hockeytown at the top of the list next season to bring home Lord Stanleys Cup. The biggest question on Red Wings fans is not the type of player the Wings need, that’s very common knowledge around the league. They...

Rick Nash? Meet Zach Parise. Your futures are intertwined!

As Paul already noted, both TSN’s Bob McKenzie and the CBC’s Elliotte Friedman have suggested that the Rick Nash sweepstakes, which is presumably the biggest sup-blot to this weekend’s Entry Dra…I mean draft, may or may not end up reaching its resolution in early July, and the Globe and Mail’s David Shoalts spells out the reason why, with “the reason” going by the name...

A new potential trade target emerges: Evander Kane

As expected, other options have begun to emerge as potential solutions for the Rangers’ offensive woes outside of Zach Parise and Rick Nash. Parise has already declared his disinterest in signing with the Rangers and Columbus’s asking price for Nash is still through the roof, but there are other players that could help supplement the Blueshirts’ attack. Trade rumors are building...

Red Wings overnight report: on losing Stuart and Fraser, and Schultz and free agent speculation

If last week’s teasers and subtle message-sending by general managers, player agents and even players themselves who may or may not be playing the media to skirt tampering rules whetted your appetite for pre-draft rumors, you’re going to love this week and weekend. With the Board of Governors meeting on Tuesday, the NHL Awards on Wednesday and the Entry Draf…I mean Draft taking...
