Don Cherry likes to emphasize his points with his hands. Whether he's calling people "turncoats" or just rambling about the Toronto Maple Leafs, the former Bruins coach and current CBC broadcaster is never at a loss for words and is never afraid to stamp his hands down to make a point. One enterprising YouTube user noted Cherry's predilection for placing his hands on his desk while he speaks, and reimaged a recent "Coach's Corner" segment from Hockey Night in Canada as if Cherry was attempting to play the piano. It's pretty neat. See for yourself in the video below.

‘Don Cherry’s Piano Desk’ video tops 700K views

There’s no introduction that can do this video justice. It’s the ‘piano desk’ of Coach’s Corner’s Don Cherry. If you’ve ever seen the way he drives a point home — with the constant hands clamping down on his desk — than you’ll appreciate it. Even if Cherry isn’t a weekly visitor in your living room, you’ll still enjoy it. The video, which is a...

The Toronto Maple Leafs placed center Tyler Bozak on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury. Bozak has been having a solid season with seven goals and 18 assists in 35 games. He has an assist in Thursday's overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. Toronto plays at Winnipeg on Saturday night.

Toronto Maple Leaf Fans Question Ron Wilson's Coaching Extension

Many Toronto Maple Leaf fans were left scratching their heads on Christmas Day when the club’s general manager Brian Burke confirmed he had given coach Ron Wilson a contract extension. This is Wilson’s fourth year coaching the NHL’s most valuable franchise and he’s missed the playoffs in each of the first three seasons. The Leafs were hanging onto a playoff spot when the...

Mike Augello: Staal Rumor Stalled(But Not Dead), Leafs Vs Canes

The Maple Leafs play the third of a rather circuitous four game road trip that began on Long Island last Friday and continued in South Florida Tuesday and finishes on New Years Eve with their first visit to the province of Manitoba in 15 years. Tonight’s contest against Carolina is another must-win scenario for Toronto, who are in the middle of a cluster of teams competing for...

Mike Augello: Bad Decisions Cause Collapse in Carolina

With just under 11 minutes remaining in the third period, the Maple Leafs appeared to have things well in hand. Goals by Nikolai Kulemin and Joffrey Lupul put the visitors up by two goals over Carolina, a team that has had problems winning at the RBC Center all season. Toronto needed only to play a smart, boring, safe defensive game for the last half of the period to earn a crucial...

Something Is Wrong With The All-Star Voting

from Joseph Hall of the Toronto Star, So, in the latest tally, three Maple Leafs, two Senators and an injured superstar would man the starting lineup for the NHL all-star game as voted for by the fans. To paraphrase Homer Simpson, when will they figure out that democracy doesn’t work in hockey? No less an authority than former NHL journeyman Rory Fitzpatrick says there has to...

Reimer leading Thomas in ASG votes & having highest GAA/SV%

The NHL All Star Game voting has always been a bit of a joke. We like to think that hockey fans are the most intelligent fans out there but they still fall for the same crap you see in other sports -- voting for their favorite player over those who deserve it.We see it all the time. It's why Sidney Crosby could technically be named to the ASG despite playing like five games or...

((HT: CBC/CFL/youtube))No, not that Brian Williams...This is the guy who has been the main anchor for CBC Sports coverage forever, has called everything in the country, anchored five-ringed circuses ((including the Ross Rebagliati fiasco from Nagano- which was some of the best live, breaking news television the HQ has ever seen)), and called baseball games...He's a pro's...
