Shea Weber is still out with a concussion but, thus far, the Preds have been just fine.

For the second consecutive game, the Nashville Predators got a victory without Weber by going to a shootout. On Wednesday, the Predators defeated the Wild in a shootout, and tonight (also for the second consecutive matchup between the Preds and Blues) they beat the St. Louis Blues 2-1 in a shootout, with Marty Erat getting the winning shot.

Matt Halischuk got the first goal of the game (and his eighth of the season) just 2:16 in the first period off an assist by Roman Josi, and at 13:40 in the first period, the Blues tied the game up with a goal by T.J. Oshie, assisted by two Davids, Backes and Perron. This would be all of the scoring in regulation.

While there wasn't a whole lot of scoring, physical defensive hockey was played throughout. Nashville was called for a total of four penalties in the game, with Roman Josi twice spending time in the sin bin.

The game was played mostly conservative and defense-oriended through the first three periods. In overtime, however, the pace picked up and both teams were flying all over the ice. This was not enough to end the game, though, and thus another game was sent to a shoot out.

St. Louis elected to have Nashville shoot first, and the Preds missed four shots before Erat hit (misses by Fisher, Smith, Legwand and Halischuk). Pekka Rinne stopped the Blues in all of their attempts during the shootout, with the game ending on Rinne's stop of Kevin Shattenkirk.

Nashville is now 3-1 in shootouts this season, wheras St. Louis is 0-5. Nashville gained only slightly in the race for the playoffs, and they currently have amassed 44 points on the season. Nashville has now defeated St. Louis all three times that the two teams have met this season. The Preds return home to Nashville for Sunday's game against Calgary.
