Midwest Sports Fans:
Hockey is back!
That’s right, arguably, the greatest sport in the world will resume (free of lockout drama) Wednesday night, and I couldn’t be more excited. I’ll be dressed up in all my Chicago Blackhawks gear, and I assume you’ll be in your favorite team’s gear too. That’s how it should be.
Love for hockey is a year-round emotion, but if you still need some help getting back in the mood, here is my list of things to do to get ready for the new season.
1. Team desktop wallpapers
Most teams have pretty awesome desktop wallpapers for you to spice up your laptop or desktop. It’s ultimately unimportant, but it’s a great mood setter. Since they’re there, it’s not a bad idea to take advantage of them. Most of them are done well, and it’s great way to show your team pride in small way.
I usually set the team’s schedule wallpaper as my background because I always forget the times and dates of every game. I am a horrible fan, I know.
2. Buy a mini-hockey set

No one enjoys reading wishy-washy predictions about their favorite team. As someone who has followed and is pretty familiar with the 2013 Stanley Cup champions, I have compiled a list of Chicago Blackhawks predictions that are bold and sure to go wrong.

“Crow” has been receiving mixed reactions during the off-season in regards to...
The Capitals and Blackhawks kicked off the 2013-2014 season with an exciting 6-4 tilt in favor of Chicago last night, but it appears that not everybody enjoyed the riveting action. A fan snapped this picture of NHL commish Gary Bettman appearing to take a quick power nap during the season opener. There’s always the chance that this is just a non-flattering shot of Bettman mid-blink...
Damn, it feels good for this season to kick off. The Blackhawks start out their title defense against a pesky Capitals squad with a victory and two points in the standings. Absolutely exhilarating game after a beautiful banner ceremony. But last year was last year and it’s on to new business. The target is going to be on their backs all season long. They are going to get everyone’s...
Brandon Saad, Johnny Oduya and Marian Hossa scored in the third period, and the Chicago Blackhawks kicked off their Stanley Cup title defense with a 6-4 victory over Mikhail Grabovsky and the Washington Capitals on Tuesday night.
Patrick Kane, Brent Seabrook and Brandon Bollig also scored for Chicago, which won its first game for the second straight season. Corey Crawford made 28...
Six different players scored. Corey Crawford made a bunch of key saves. There was a big penalty kill and an impressive rally.
The beginning of this season looked a lot like the end of the last one for the Chicago Blackhawks.
Johnny Oduya, Brandon Saad and Marian Hossa scored in the third period, and the Blackhawks kicked off their title defense with a 6-4 victory over Mikhail Grabovski...
CHICAGO — The Chicago Blackhawks raised their championship banner into the rafters of the United Center last night. They took one last look at the cup and took in the emotional homecoming from the crowd that they deserved. After that they went out and showed the fans and the rest of us why they the […]
Susannah Collins will call a college football game for CBS Sports on Saturday. This news comes out on the same day, coincidentally that the Chicago Blackhawks begin the 2013-14 NHL season and raise the banner for their Stanley Cup championship.
And of course, Susannah Collins was unfairly left out of reporting on that title run and experiencing all the bread and circuses of it. You’ll...
For some 40 minutes the Blackhawks and their delirious fans basked in the literal glow of their most recent Stanley Cup championship — rink-size images of memorable moments engulfing the ring and 21158 flickering wristbands lighting up the United Center as a montage of highlights and soundbites played on the big screen.
And as the fifth championship banner rose to the rafters...
After a season where everything that could go right, went right, the Chicago Blackhawks won their banner raising game at United Center last night with a 3rd period comeback topped off by a very fluky game winner by defenceman Johnny…Read more →The post Unstoppable Blackhawks Continue Finding Ways To Win appeared first on The Hockey Daily.
The federal government may be in shutdown mode, but the City of Boston is still up and running, and that means it’s time to fulfill a certain Stanley Cup wager. Boston mayor Tom Menino and Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel agreed to a bet with each other when their teams made it to the Stanley Cup Final last spring. Alas, Chicago pushed through for the win in six games — meaning Boston...
1. Chicago Blackhawks It’s hard to argue against the dominant performance the Blackhawks displayed in 2012-13. Until proven otherwise, they are the best team in the National Hockey League. 2. Boston Bruins Aside from the fact the Bruins have played…Read more →The post 30 Teams 30 Dreams: NHL Regular Season Team Rankings appeared first on The Hockey Daily.
The Chicago Blackhawks began last season in Los Angeles, where they watched the Kings celebrate their Stanley Cup title, and then cruised to an emphatic 5-2 victory that set the tone for their own championship run.
Now they are looking for another strong start, while Washington is hoping to do what the Blackhawks did last season when the Capitals visit Chicago on Tuesday.
Tonight was opening night of the 2013-2014 season. The Chicago Blackhawks had a very impressive Cup ceremony which included saluting the players, coaches, staff, front office and even….Commissioner Gary Bettman. Now let me set the scene for you! As Eddie Olczyk was announcing the front office personnel the fans were giving them all cheers, as soon as he said “NHL Commissioner...
