The Devils Last Game
They rolled into Pittsburgh and behind Clarkson’s two goal night and another from Ilya Kovalchuk, the Devils completed a weekend sweep of the Penguins. You can read Scott’s recap on that game right here.
The Hurricanes Last Game
They traveled to Long Island last night to take on the Islanders which turned out to be a very high scoring affair. Carolina, who battled back a number of times in this game was able to grab the lead at 4-3 in the third and hang on for a 6-4 victory.
The Canes have speed and talent. The Staal brothers, Jeff Skinner, Alex Semin and as of very recently, Jiri Tlusty are guys that can give you prob...
BEST OF MAXIM
The Hurricanes managed to pull out a 4-2 win over the New Jersey Devils last night and they did it on the back of one of their weakest offensive performances of the young season. The Devils held Carolina to only nine scoring chances at even strength and 12 overall, which are season lows for the Hurricanes this season. New Jersey is also only the third team this season to outchance...

from Damien Cox of The Spin,
They came into the season as the most disrespected Stanley Cup finalist in modern NHL history.

Their first round triumph over the Florida Panthers snapped a postseason advancement drought that’s stretched back to 2008. Their...
Update: Whoops, wrong blog! Sorry! The CBC's Elliotte Freidman's penned another excellent "30 Thoughts" column, and he leads the affair off by duly noting that the rumors of the New Jersey Devils' Zach Parise-less demise were at least slightly exaggerated:
The New Jersey Devils lost Zach Parise for nothing and we were quick to write them off. Boy, do we...
Carolina Hurricanes at New York Islanders
7 p.m., Nassau Coliseum
TV: FS-Carolinas, MSG Plus
Despite the Hurricanes "so-so" 5-4-1 start to the year, they are still in the thick of things in the Southeast Division and are faced with a great opportunity in the latter stages of this road trip. They are still only one point out of first place thanks to a four-game losing...
I recently acquired a fantastic card with an even better story. 2005-2006 Upper Deck Rookie Update featured Rookie Inspirations Dual Autos from a great class of rookies. My main man Ryan Getzlaf is thankfully in the set, and when I came across the below beaut of him paired with Hurricanes' center Eric Staal, I couldn't pass it up. I out-waited high prices and eventually nabbed...
