Found January 03, 2012 on Stars of Big D:
Detroit Red Wings (24-13-1, 49 pts) @ Dallas Stars (21-15-1, 43 pts) 7:00 PM CT, January 3, 2012 American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas In case anyone has forgotten, Red Wings suck. Ok, now that that's out of the way, let's get the preview rolling. The first game of the new year for Dallas is a chance for them to build on a great game on New Year's Eve. Dallas has what was probably their best game of the season in their 4-1 win over the Bruins despite major injuries in their defense. The injuries only got worse in the backline so things only get more interesting tonight. Stephane Robidas and Sheldon Souray are still out, with Souray just getting placed on IR. Philip Larsen, who had been playing very well this season, sustained a concussion and will miss this game so reinforcements had to be called up. Up to the NHL come two youngsters that have been having excellent seasons in the AHL this year, Brendon Dillon and Jordie Benn. Yes yes, Jordie is the brother of Jami...

Red Wings-Stars game-day updates, out of the office version

As the Detroit Red Wings prepare to face off against the Dallas Stars tonight (8 PM EST, FSD/NBC Sports Network outside Michigan/WXYT), a certain blogger has to run a major errand for a currently jittery family member, so I’m going to leave you with some Wings-Stars tidbits to tide you over until I can file a real morning skate update: From the Stars’ side of things, here...

Charting Time on Ice - December

December was a roller coaster month for the Stars. They beat good teams and lost to bad teams. They saw players come back from injury but suffered more injuries as the month wore on. Dallas played 13 games in the month of December, none of them reaching overtime and went 7-6-0. They enter the first game of the new year with 43 points, good enough for 10th place in the Western Conference...

Conner gets to travel, but it's a trip to Grand Rapids

After Monday's practice, Red Wings forward Chris Conner was asked whether he would join the team on its trip to Dallas. "I'm not sure what ...," Conner began to answer. "Nope, he's not; he's going to be assigned right now," Wings coach Mike Babcock interjected, finishing the answer. "Well, there it goes," Conner said.

GDT - Game #39:  Red Wings at Stars (8:00)

Really quick and dirty GDT today.  DET (24-13-1) take their 18th ranked road record (9-11-0) to DAL tonight to begin a four game road trip [you can do the math - all but two of DET’s losses occurred on the road]. While the Wings have won 12 straight at JLA, they have lost six of nine on the road heading into this trip. The Stars (21-15-1) are struggling to keep pace in the...

NOHS Review of 2011

It's never too late to write a review of 2011. Well, I suppose it would be weird if I wrote this in 2018, but January 2 doesn't seem bad. In this post, I'll recap some things that were significant to the Red Wings and this blog. It's not all happy, but it all happened.Leap! First Post: A recap of the Red Wings’ loss to the Islanders. Even without that post,...
