If Dallas wants to prove that it belongs in the playoffs, the game today provides an opportunity to make a statement. The game today is the first of four this season and could be a probable matchup for the first round of the playoffs if Dallas makes it (either the Canucks or Detroit).
Dallas has struggled mightly with the top teams in the West this season (Dallas has oddly done well against the top teams in the East). The Stars are 1-8-1 against Detroit, San Jose and St. Louis this season and will face an equally difficult game against Vancouver (who could be the best of the group).
The good thing for Dallas is that they enter today as hot as they have been in the past two months. Dallas has won three in a row, been scoring goals and the goaltending has been fantastic. It's all the more incredible because Dallas has been doing th...

According to the Twitter Account of Ben Kuzma on Saturday the Vancouver Canucks placed Keith Ballard (neck) on LTIR. Ben goes on to say this move by the Vancouver front office frees up $4.2M in salary cap space to make a significant trade move Monday, should the Canucks be interested in making said move. After a month of hype, trade deadline day is almost upon us and with the recent news that Keith Ballard has been put on LTIR, the Canucks have no cap constraints heading into the deadline, offering wide fantasies on possible moves.

It was half hour after the trade deadline had officially passed, and there were rumblings of a big deal with Vancouver Canucks, however no one expected that the other team in that deal would be the Buffalo Sabres – but that’s exactly what it was. The Sabres have dealt Zack Kassian and Marc-Ande Gragnani for Cody Hodgson and Alexander Sulzer. This trade coming in addition to...
On February 16, the Dallas Stars looked to be big sellers at the February 27 NHL trade deadline. After dealing defenseman Nicklas Grossman to the Philadelphia Flyers (for a solid return of a second and third-round draft pick), reports and […]

The Sabres also obtained defenseman Alexander Sulzer while the Canucks received defenseman Marc-Andre Gragnani in the deal.
Hodgson, a center, was taken 10th overall in 2008. He has 16 goals and 17 assists this season.
Kassian, a forward, has three goals and four...

Per Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos on TV, the Vancouver Canucks have acquired Sami Pahlsson from the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Update: Sportsnet says 2 fourth-round picks are going back to columbus in the trade.
Down a goal with less than a minute left in regulation, the Dallas Stars appeared to have little more than a slim chance against NHL points leader Vancouver.
Tom Wandell scored twice, Kari Lehtonen stopped 28 shots, and the Dallas Stars stretched their winning streak to three games with a 4-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Friday night.
The Vancouver Canucks have acquired forward Samuel Pahlsson from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for defenseman Taylor Ellington, a 4th-round pick in 2012, and a 4th-round pick in 2012.
