To call this a big game is a bit of an overestimation. It's not even humongous big. Yes, both teams are fighting for first place in the Eastern Conference. Philadelphia sits in first place with 43 points and Boston is right up their tail pipe with 41. The most amazing thing about this? Philadelphia is currently on a 7 game winning streak and no one is really talking about it. Everyone thought that trading Richards and Carter would more or less cripple the Flyers, but what it did was allow them to get a goaltender, an aging legend and some bit players to fit around Claude Giroux and may have made them better. What will be a big boost to the Bruins is Chara playing today. From everything I've read, nothing is confirmed yet and it's a game time decision, but like I posted yesterday he skated with the team during practice and participated in most (if not all) of the drills. Like I've mentioned for the past few days, the Bruins defense has been a shell of itself without C...

Tim Thomas, Tuukka Rask Differ in Goaltending Styles, But Bruins' System Helps Make Them Interchangeable

Claude Julien has two incredibly capable goaltenders at his disposal in Tim Thomas and Tuukka Rask. And while it may be difficult at times to juggle their playing time, the decision must be made easier by the simple fact that the B's are in a great position to win regardless of who's between the pipes. A lot of that, though, stems from the Bruins' defensive system that...

Send Tom Caron, Jack Edwards, Billy Jaffe and Barry Pederson a Question to be Answered on 'The Instigators'

Zdeno Chara is back, so there's one less thing for Bruins fans to worry about. Then again, when the goal is another Stanley Cup, it's never too early to nitpick. After giving up more than 40 shots in back-to-back games without Chara, what is the Bruins' backup plan in case something happens to one of their key defensemen? Will Tuukka Rask and Tim Thomas be able to pick...

Report: Bruins captain Chara to return vs. Flyers

Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara is expected to play in Saturday's game against the rival Philadelphia Flyers. Chara suffered a sprained left knee last weekend against the Columbus Blue Jackets and missed a pair of games. The hulking defenseman was originally expected to be out until Dec. 28, but the team has sent fellow blue-liner Steven Kampfer and forward Jordan Caron back...

Lucic believes hit is nothing major

Considering that Milan Lucic was tossed from yesterday’s game at 16:21 of the second period, the left wing had plenty of time to go over the play in question.

Milbury's assault case dismissed

A spokesman for former Boston Bruins player and coach Mike Milbury says his client won't face criminal charges for a confrontation he had with a 12-year-old boy after a youth hockey game. The spokesman made the announcement after a closed door hearing Friday in Brookline District Court, where police and witnesses appeared before a court official. "Well, that's good...

PA Hockey Takes A Hit With Concussions To Pronger, Giroux & Crosby

With the loss of Chris Pronger, Claude Giroux, and Sidney Crosby this week the state of Pennsylvania hockey has taken a major hit. Concussions have claimed all three superstars and their respective teams will need to find ways to play without them. At the moment Crosby and Giroux are both out indefinitely and during Thursday [...]

Chara scores

PHILADELPHIA--Zdeno Chara now just needs an assist to get the Gordie Howe hat trick. Shortly after leaving the penalty box after his fight with Jody Shelley, Chara beat Ilya Bryzgalov on a power-play goal.
