LA Back to Backs The Vancouver Canucks remain in search of their first win of the calendar year tonight as they visit the dominant Anaheim Ducks. The Canucks are coming off another tough loss in Los Angeles in which they gave up an early lead and failed to respond after the Kings finally cracked Roberto Luongo. Vancouver’s starter had a solid game in his return to the Canucks’ crease but was unable to carry his team to victory all by himself. Nothing Lacking Will Eddie Lack receive the start on his birthday? Roberto Luongo was the Canucks’ best player on Saturday, but was unable to keep the Kings at bay with only a one-goal lead to work with. Luongo stopped 46 of 48 shots faced last night and has certainly earned a night off after a solid performance despite the loss. While Luongo is a glutton for starts don’t be surprised if birthday boy Eddie Lack gets the start tonight for a change of pace in Anaheim. Ducks Dominant The Anaheim Ducks have dominated the Pacific Division over the first half of the season and will be looking to continue that trend tonight with the Canucks in town. The Ducks are 10-1-2 against teams in their division and have already beaten the Canucks once at the Honda Center. The Ducks remain the NHL’s only to to be unbeaten at home in regulation. Hiller Hot Jonas Hiller is one of the NHL’s hottest goaltenders entering tonight’s game with ten-straight wins stretching back to December 6th against the Blackhawks. Hiller has been eerily consistent over that stretch, allowing two goals in eight of his wins and averaging a 2.00 goals-against-average over the entire streak. Look for Hiller to be solid once again for the Ducks tonight at the Honda Center. Santorelli Striking Out Mike Santorelli has been quiet to start the new year, riding a three-game scoreless streak into tonight’s game in Anaheim. Santorelli’s longest goalless drought of the season is four games, but the Canucks will be hoping he won’t have to match his record tonight against the Ducks. Cog In The Machine The Canucks will have to keep an eye out for Andrew Cogliano tonight as they attempt to take down the Ducks on home ice for the first time all season. The dynamic forward has four goals and one assist over his last five games and is sure to be skating with a smile on his face after signing a four-year $12-million extension with the Ducks earlier this weekend.
