Found October 27, 2011 on Kukla's Korner:
The Montreal Canadiens beat the Boston Bruins 2-1 on Thursday night, with Boston’s only goal coming off a misguided faceoff win by Tomas Plekanec (for those who have not seen it, he won the face-off clean…so clean it went right behind Carey Price). This coming after Wednesday’s 5-1 defeat of the Philadelphia Flyers. Quick hits from the game? Well, PK Subban and Brad Marchand had an epic battle all night, which resulted in one of the most absurd fights I’ve seen of late. Regardless, Marchand and Subban each spent 9 minutes in the penalty box between each scrap - a huge success, I might add, for Brad Marchand. His goal was to get Subban in there for 5 minutes, and he almost doubled it. I’m sure Jacques Martin will be having words with his precocious defenceman. Continue reading "Habs on a two game roll"

Tomas Plekanec Wins NESN Nation's 'Double Duty' Player of Game Award After Scoring on Both Teams

Well, that's... weird. The Bruins find themselves in last place after falling to the Canadiens on Thursday night, 2-1. Tomas Plekanec scored two goals, one against each team, and the highlight of the game was a much-anticipated fight between Brad Marchand and P.K. Subban. Unfortunately, the Bruins weren't able to translate the energy from that fight into a goal, and the team...

Price stops 29 shots as Canadiens hold off Bruins

BOSTON (AP) Tomas Plekanec put one in each net, making up for an own goal by scoring the tiebreaker with 9:14 remaining on Thursday night to give the Montreal Canadiens a 2-1 victory over the Boston Bruins .

NHL roundup: Canadiens rip Flyers, end 6-game skid

Carey Price made 21 saves for his 100th win, Max Pacioretty had two goals and an assist, and the Montreal Canadiens ended a six-game losing streak with a 5-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday night.

Bruins Can't Capitalize on Lucky Bounce As Inconsistent Effort Drops Reigning Champs Into Last Place in East

BOSTON -- The Bruins appeared to finally get the break they needed. They scored a rare power-play goal and grabbed the early lead that's been so elusive this season. And they did it in the flukiest of fashions imaginable. On the opening faceoff of the power play, Montreal center Tomas Plekanec won the draw cleanly off Patrice Bergeron, but he sent back on his own goal and Habs...

Bruins Could Use Arrival of Archrival Canadiens to Help Snap Out of Early-Season Funk

WILMINGTON, Mass. -- The next chapter in the rivalry is almost here. The Bruins will face the Canadiens for the first time this season on Thursday when the Habs visit the Garden to open a home-and-home series. It's sure to be an emotional game with the long history of animosity between the Original Six rivals, and that might be just what the Bruins need to snap out of their early...

Flyers Visit Montreal to Face-Off Against Struggling Canadiens

The Flyers will look to build on their win over the Toronto Maple Leafs earlier this week as they take on another team from north of the border; the Montreal Canadiens. Goaltender Carey Price (.878 Save %, 3.13 GAA) and newcomer Eric Cole (1G, 1A, minus 4) have really struggled as the Canadiens are off to an abysmal 1-5-2 start this season. Their only win came against the Winnipeg...

Boston Bruins celebrate Halloween at Children's Hospital

There aren't many outside of Boston that like the New England sports teams. I'm one of them. But you have to give a handful of Bruins a hand as they spent part of their Tuesday visiting Children's Hospital of Boston bringing Halloween cheer to the sick children. Zdeno Chara, Jordan Caron, Brad Marchand and Adam McQuaid dressed up and put smiles on kids' faces...

Fantasy Hockey ONE (10/28)

There was an urge to show the Carey Price blunder but because he did win, we ultimately resisted.  It was one of the strangest nights all season in the fantasy hockey world.  There were own goals, wild games of endless scoring, and then goalie gaffes galore plus more.  It was a night some will remember but probably many fantasy hockey GM's will forget. ...

Canadiens beat Flyers to end 6-game skid

Carey Price made 21 saves for his 100th win and Max Pacioretty had two goals and an assist and the Montreal Canadiens ended a six-game losing streak with a 5-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday night.

Fantasy Hockey ONE (10/27)

Well Montreal sure makes it interesting. Fire an assistant coach then score five goals. Maybe that is how to do it in the NHL.  Okay that is really not the right way but in Montreal, anything that causes celebration is good no matter what the methodology is.  As most know, with a packed schedule, we sometimes sadly have a few technical glitches.  Today was...

Canadiens win second straight over Bruins

Brian Gionta and David Desharnais scored power-play goals and Carey Price made 26 saves as the Montreal Canadiens extended their winning streak to three with a 4-2 win over the Boston Bruins on Saturday night.
