It isn’t quite going to be the usual drubbing of the Washington Generals, but who the heck cares, right? The Harlem Globetrotters are taking their world famous act to the ice. The NHL season may be closer to extinction, but that doesn’t mean the ice cannot be used. Besides minor league hockey events and Disney on Ice, ice time needs to be used up. The Globetrotters are going to fill the void by playing at Millennium Park in Portage, MI. Trust me, that’s a real place. Cost? Free. Feeling for hockey-deprived fans, the sporty entertainers will strap on custom cleats and hockey helmets Monday for a basketball game on ice against the Global Select at Millennium Park in western Michigan. They say Detroit Red Wings alum Kevin Miller will join them. It may be free, but I wouldn’t mind paying to see these guys do their thing on the ice. I imagine that they have really good insurance, because I cannot believe most of these guys are used to participating on the ice like Miller.
