The Milwaukee Admirals lost captain Mike Moore to the Providence Bruins this summer. But they may have found his replacement. As first reported by Tyler Doig, defenseman Bryan Rodney has signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Nashville Predators. The 29-year old Toronto, Ontario, native’s contract is worth $120,000 while with the Admirals and $550,000 while with Nashville. Blue chip prospects Ryan Ellis and Mattias Ekholm are expected to be in Music City this season but one of them will be on the outside looking in with the defense corps the way it is. As a result, Rodney seems destined for the AHL. If Nashville decides to move a defenseman or has a rash of injuries like last year, however, Rodney could see his first NHL action since April 2, 2012. He’s played 34 career NHL games (33 for the Carolina Hurricanes and one for the Edmonton Oilers) during his eight-year pro career. When he pulls on that Admirals/Predators sweater on opening night, it will be his eighth different jersey...

Boston Bruins: Dougie Hamilton, the mystery man

The Bruins know all about injuries, and how they affect a team’s chances to take home the ultimate prize. One of the best things they learned this past post-season is that no matter what the age of the player, they’re still capable of performing at a high level.  At one point during the playoffs, the B’s roster had to have three rookie-defensemen skate onto the ice, which...

The Nashville Predators have signed defenseman Bryan Rodney to a one-year, two-way contract worth $550,000. Rodney signed his first contract with the Anaheim Ducks on July 5, 2011 but was traded to the Edmonton Oilers for Ryan O’Marra on February 16, 2012. Without a contract due to the 2012 NHL lockout, Rodney eventually signed as a free agent midway through the 2012–13 season...

Predators primed to bounce back into playoff contention

Last season was likely the worst season that the Nashville Predators have had since the team’s first years after expansion. They not only struggled to win games, but they struggled to score goals and even direct the puck to the net. Perhaps most disappointing for Nashville last season was that the team was mostly intact after a run to the second round in the 2012 playoffs. Many...
