You can't complain about wasteful spending in the advertising industry. Via Reddit Hockey comes this example of belt tightening. Sidney Crosby needs to film an ad for an unnamed company. Ad agency is in California. Film crew is in California. The Consol Energy Center is in Pittsburgh. What to do? Commandeer the Honda Center and paint the ice to look like Consol, of course! Which is cheaper, shipping a film crew across the country or having one person fly to California? The latter, of course. I realize that this is an affront to Ducks fans - frankly, if Scottrade were painted to look like anywhere else I'd have a fit - but hey, the ad came in under budget, I'm sure. It's back to normal, celebrating the Ducks' 20th anniversary, but I'm sure that as a matter of principle Ducks fans would rather this not happen again.

Top Five: Ray Shero Trades

Penguins general manager Ray Shero had made many great moves in his position since he was hired in 2006. He was named the NHL General Manager of the Year in 2013 after acquiring Jarome Iginla, Brenden Morrow, Douglas Murray and Jussi Jokinen near the trade deadline without giving up a single player on the Penguins’ NHL roster. Although the moves did not work out as many would...

Young Defensemen Highlight Pittsburgh Penguins 2013 Rookie Tournament Roster

It has been been a little over a month since Pittsburgh Penguins prospects participated in the 2013 Development Camp. After another successful camp, many of the prospects will reunite to participate in the 2013 rookie tournament, which will be held in London, Ontario this year. In fact, it will be in the home rink of the OHL’s London Knights. Olli Maatta, Scott Harrington, and...

Thoughts on the Doug Murray signing

It's hot and sunny, so this will be short and sweet: good move. Bergevin gets a veteran defenceman to help bridge the period that Alexei Emelin will miss while recovering from surgery, one who can move the puck a little bit and is good positionally. He's also very intelligent, and has a very successful patent, but that's a story for another day. Back to summer, but...

Kris Letang can jump high

Composure jokes aside, Kris Letang is some kind of athlete. Here is a vid of him jumping over things: Was going to make a gif of this but seems kind of arkward enough. h/t to A.F. for the find.

Improved Fighting In NHL 14 - Yay, Nay Or Who Cares?

from the CP at CBC, "When I look back at NHL 13,I feel like we fell short a little bit on the aggression piece of it," said Ramjagsingh. That meant upping the ante on big hits and fights. "There is a code in hockey and when it's broken, you have to respond," EA notes in a press release. Critics may decry the improved fighting component. Fans...
