from Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun, • Whoever takes over as GM of the Montreal Canadiens — assuming Pierre Gauthier’s reign is nearing an end — has the difficult task of signing RFA goalie Carey Price. He is making $3 million this season, but is going to be earning in the $5.5-million to $6-million range once the dust settles.
Price has the right to arbitration so he could be a difficult target, but there are a lot of teams with cap space looking for goaltending, including the Maple Leafs and Lightning. It’s a situation worth watching….
• Some NHL observers have suggested Devils C Zach Parise could land with the Kings as a UFA on July 1. The Kings were viewed as a nice fit because Parise trains in the Los Angeles area during the off-season and GM Dean Lombardi needed scoring. Many wonder if the panic move by Lombardi to acquire C Jeff Carter from the Jackets for D Jack Johnson before the deadline is going to lessen the chances of Parise going to the Kings. Why is Gomez still playing...revisted?
Well, sort of again. Have no fear, I will not be going "granular" on you with a ton of Gomez stats.
Many poeple have left very interesting comments in the first article on the subject (and I'd like to thank you all for them!).
A lot of them had to do with the fact that, weather the numbers were there or not, Gomez had...
Carey Price still playing for keeps
The Habs eked out a point last night. That was solely due to the play of Carey Price, who kept the Senators at bay for 50-odd minutes before they tied the game and went on to win 2-1. The Habs were without Andrei Markov (it’s not the knee, it’s upper body, we swear…yeah, sure), Tomas Kaberle, and the regulars who have been out all season. I give Randy Cunneyworth credit, he...

Case in point: Your Montreal Canadiens.
Even though the Habs have picked up points in seven of their last ten games - a decent streak for a bottom team like Montreal - they have moved up only one position, to 27th overall in the league...

Islanders-Canadiens Preview
The Montreal Canadiens tend to have little trouble with the New York Islanders.
Lately, most opponents have enjoyed facing the Islanders - especially when hosting them.
The Canadiens look to continue their dominance of last-place New York when they conclude the season series Saturday night at the Bell Centre.
Montreal (28-32-12) is 14-2-4 over its last 20 meetings with the Islanders...

In what should go down as the worst game of professional hockey ever played(alright: half-kidding), the Ottawa Senators emerged victorious 2-1 in overtime, courtesy of a Filip Kuba rocket past Montreal net-minder Carey Price in the waning moments of extra-time.
Although a close-scoring affair between divisional rivals...
Devils 1, Avalanche 0, SO
Ilya Kovalchuk and Zach Parise scored in the shootout to give the New Jersey Devils a 1-0 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night.
After the first two shooters for the Devils connected, Martin Brodeur sealed the win with stops on Milan Hejduk and Peter Mueller.
New Jersey picked up its league-leading 11th shootout win, ending Colorado's three-game winning streak....
