The latest round of Bruins trade rumors include Stars forward Jaromir Jagr
The trade-deadline is a little bit more than 24 hours away and the Boston Bruins still need some help. Needs include a top-six level forward to provide a scoring punch for a faltering Bruins line-up and defensive help for a depleted blue-line crew. After failing to acquire Jarome Iginla last week, the Bruins options at scoring forward were becoming thinner. There was talk on Monday night about Ryan Clowe coming to Boston as he was a healthy scratch from his game, but that was until everyone remembered that he has scored the same amount of goals that I have scored this NHL season.
There is a new rumor floating around that the Boston Bruins could be in on the newest prize on the market. Future Hall-of-Fame wing Jaromir Jagr will be traded by the Dallas Stars, and according to ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun, the Boston Bruins are at the top of potential suitors.
A week or so ago, I talked about the potential fit of Jagr with the Boston Bruins. This is what I wrote and it still holds true:
Jagr is 41 and is years away from his 60 goal seasons he put up back in the 1990′s. Nonetheless, Jagr has been third line productive since his return from Russia two years ago, putting up 19 goals a year ago and is currently sitting on 14. The age of Jagr likely makes him a more easily obtainable piece for the Boston Bruins
In addition, acquiring the forward before the defense-man helps the Bruins right up until the final tick of the clock at the trade deadline. If the Bruins get a scoring wing first, it opens up trade possibilities to deal one of their two-way forwards to get defensive depth.
The Boston Bruins do need to make a move before the trade-deadline. It would be nice if one of the move was to bring in a future hall-of-fame player, even if he is at the end of a storied career.
