After laying a 6-1 beating on the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2nd game of the Eastern Conference Finals on Monday night, the Boston Bruins head back home with a comfortable 2-0 lead in the series. On Tuesday morning much of the Boston media covering the Bruins were heading back to Beantown together on a JetBlue flight, when, just prior to takeoff, a baby began crying on board the airplane. Not wanting to miss an opportunity to zing a guy when he’s down, the pilot came on over the loudspeaker to ask the passengers if said crying infant happened to be Pens captain Sidney Crosby.
From CBS Boston…
Most of the Boston media flew back home on Tuesday morning, and prior to takeoff there was a crying child on board. While this is the worst-case scenario for most, the pilot of the jetBlue flight had a little fun — at Sidney Crosby’s expense.
“Is that Sidney Crosby in back of our plane!” the pilot asked over the loudspeaker.
Rimshot! Not only does the joke apply well here—Sid the Kid does have a penchant for whining to the refs and media when things don’t go his way—but the timing was impeccable. Safe to say this pilot is the Henny Youngman of the friendly skies.
You can thank Dan Roche, sports anchor and reporter for WBZ-TV in Boston, for letting the world in on the pilot’s hilarious one-liner…

And here’s JetBlue’s response to Roche’s tweet…
@RochieWBZ Gotta love Boston based pilots! Andrew and Brian (your pilots) have some great blue lines of their own.
