Theres a tantalizing trade rumor making the rounds that will pique Coyotes fans interest.
If Pittsburgh cant get center Jordan Staal signed to a contract extension this offseason, he might on the blocks. The reasoning is this: Staal will be an unrestricted free agent after next season, so the Penguins might want to get something for a valuable asset.
The Coyotes are one of several teams said to be interested. General manager Don Maloney did not return a message left Wednesday. One scenario has Phoenix dealing defenseman Keith Yandle, a second-round pick this year and a third-round pick next season for Staal.
That deal makes sense on a lot of fronts. Each team has a surplus at the position theyd be dealing. The Coyotes have been stockpiling defenseman in their system for several years, and Oliver Ekman-Larsson appears ready to take a giant leap forward. Pittsburgh already has centers Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin to go along with Staal a collection that Maloney recently called...

Phoenix Coyotes forward Shane Doan may have lost in the playoffs, but he's winning in the equipment department. He has an awesome candy stick.
from Renaud Lavoie of RDS (translated), Crosby has always admitted that he enjoyed working with Michel Therrien, the evidence is that he contacted him to congratulate him on his appointment in Montreal and if Sidney Crosby had to switch sides, he would arrive in familiar territory to Montreal.
Obviously we can afford to dream. The reality is that Sidney Crosby has another year of...

This isn't the summer to be in need of netminding. While there's never a good time to find yourself lacking in the most important position on the ice, the offseason at least usually presents an opportunity for NHL teams to address the issue. This year, that won't be so easy. The free-agent pool promised to be a shallow one this summer, and that was before the Penguins...
A conservative watchdog group plans to ask a judge for a temporary restraining order Friday to prevent a Glendale City Council vote on a lease agreement that would clear the way for the sale of the NHL's Phoenix Coyotes.
The Goldwater Institute said Thursday that its request will be filed at 8:30 a.m. Friday in Maricopa County Superior Court. The institute bases its request...
The Pens acquired Tomas Vokoun to be the backup goalie for the next season. Vokoun will replace Brent Johnson who was the back up goalie for two years. Johnson went 29-18-6.
All about Tomas after the jump.
Vokoun was brought into Washington last year to be the starter. Right off the bat things didn't go well. Vokoun didn'...
Phoenix Coyotes captain Shane Doan has a stick made of Skittles. Stay out of Florida Shane. Stay out of Florida.

Overall the Coyotes had a great season; I'm not going to lie and say the ending wasn't disappointing but I'm not going to dwell on it either.Looking back, this is the best season since I moved to Phoenix in 2006 (prior to that I was a Flyers fan, in case you were unaware). My number one best moment is Shane Doan's hat trick. I'm pretty sure when I'm 64 I will...

The Goldwater Institute has sent their warning shot across the City of Glendale's collective bow in the Greg Jamison/Jamison Entertainment Group purchase of the Phoenix Coyotes...
They have more questions than warnings at present (especially having to do with the lack of Indian nation involvement, possible violations of the Gift Clause...
