Found November 10, 2013 on Puck Drunk Love:
Won't someone think of the goalies! Today in a line brawl between the Providence Bruins and the Hartford Wolf Pack, goaltenders Malcom Subban and Scott Stajcer skated out to center ice. This, of course, happened: You'll notice some differences from other recent goalie fights. There were no visible punches to the back of the head, no one goalie skating to the other end of the arena, and I'll assume one of the goalies didn't warn the other one that he needed to protect himself. The AHL:  where goalie fights aren't terrifying. (S/t Adam Herman of the NYR Blog and @mybruinsOface)

Five for Fighting: Bobby Robins

Bobby Robins amassed 316 penalty minutes during the 2012-13 season for the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League. His AHL leading PIM in 2012-13 was also a career high for the Bruins enforcer. Robins started the 2013-14 season on the injured reserve list with the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League, but after his return to the AHL it didn’t take the forward long...

Report: Rangers’ Chris Kreider Will Not Be Suspended for Questionable Hit on Scottie Upshall (Video)

Luck was on Chris Kreider‘s side on Sunday. First, the Panthers were unable to capitalize when Kreider’s dumb and unnecessary cross-check on Florida’s Scottie Upshall near the benches forced the Rangers to play a man down for the final 1:15 of a one-goal game. Some, including Larry Brooks of the New York Post, thought the NHL might suspend Kreider for the hit, which came just...

Bruins Honor Veterans, Family From Lee Brice’s ‘I Drive Your Truck’ in Pregame Tribute at TD Garden (Video)

The Bruins are no stranger to honoring the real heroes of America. The team that gave its top player an Army Ranger jacket throughout last year’s playoff run was part of a special tribute before Monday afternoon’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The B’s had a hat tip to all veterans, but they saved a special moment for Paul Monti, the father of Jared Monti, who received...

Claude Julien ‘Fairly Pleased’ After Win Over Toronto, Still Looking for More Consistency Out of His Team (Video)

The Bruins struggle to sustain consistency continues, but the team made some good strides toward the full 60-minute effort in Saturday’s win over the Leafs. With a strong first period, Claude Julien said his team looked like who they wanted to be, but they stumbled in the second, struggling to get anything going in their own end. The B’s came out grinding in the final period...

Military Service of Milt Schmidt, Bruins Teammates in World War II Remembered on Veterans Day (Video)

More than 70 years ago, dozens of North American professional athletes made a sacrifice most sports stars today could not even fathom. A season after leading the Bruins to a Stanley Cup championship, the three members of Boston’s legendary Kraut Line — Milt Schmidt, Woody Dumart and Bobby Bauer — enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force to serve in World War II. Soon after...

Who Was the Last Head Coach to Coach Both the Bruins and Maple Leafs?

The Bruins and Maple Leafs have all sorts of connections due to an abundance of trades over the last decade or so. From Phil Kessel to Tuukka Rask, there are key members of both teams that have been on the other side of the rivalry at one point in their careers. But what about behind the bench? Who was the most recent head coach to coach both the Maple Leafs and the Bruins? Answer...

Is Mats Zuccarello’s ‘lack of finish’ an issue?

Photo: Lou Capozzola/Getty Images North America Mats Zuccarello’s response to his healthy scratch against Philadelphia has been nothing short of immense.  At the time, Zuccarello was stumbling through the season doing nothing to warrant an extended future with the Rangers. Alain Vigneault was fully justified in removing the little Norwegian from the line-up when he did. Since...

Vintage Athlete Of The Month: Terry O’Reilly (VIDEO)

In the rough-and-tumble world of Irish Boston, no trait is valued more than loyalty and nothing respected more than the ability to take care of oneself. Translated to the world of hockey, that means a tough enforcer who can handle things when they get the rough. Today’s fans might identify Shawn Thornton as that kind of player for the 2013-14 Boston Bruins. But back in the day...

Bartkowski ready to jump into Bruins lineup

Matt Bartkowski’s teammates couldn’t resist giving him a hard time when the media crowded around his locker Sunday afternoon following practice at Ristuccia Arena. The attention was warranted because the 25-year-old is expected to enter the lineup on Monday afternoon when the Bruins face the Tampa Bay Lightning in a Veteran’s Day matinee with Adam McQuaid “doubtful” to...

Berkshire Bank Faceoff: Banged-Up Maple Leafs Take On Bruins at TD Garden

BOSTON — The Toronto Maple Leafs are back in Boston, but they don’t won’t have the full roster that’s helped them tie for the Atlantic Division lead through the first few weeks of the season. The Leafs come in a little thin down the middle, as both Tyler Bozak and Dave Bolland are hurt and out for the foreseeable future. That’s led Toronto to shake things up at the center...
