Found May 16, 2013 on Kukla's Korner:
From Roy MacGregor of the Toronto Globe and Mail: Three Dog Night had it all wrong. One is not the loneliest number. It’s 29. No. 29, also known as Marc-André Fleury of the Pittsburgh Penguins, is on the ice at Consol Energy Center. He is skating between Zambonis as they re-surface the ice: crouched over, head bowed, deep in thought that does not require a mind-reader to decipher. What the hell has gone wrong? Fleury is, or at least is supposed to be, the starting goaltender for what has been the strongest NHL team in the Eastern Conference. He is supposed to stop the pucks while Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Jarome Iginla, and a cast of other hockey stars fire pucks into the opposition nets. He is supposed to backstop the Penguins to the 2013 Stanley Cup prior to taking over the net as Team Canada defends its Olympic gold medal in Sochi next February. That was the dream, the plan – but recently it has gone off the rails.

Crosby records hat trick in Game 2 win

Sidney Crosby‘s game is clicking on all cylinders, and that’s bad news for the rest of the NHL. Crosby recorded the second playoff hat trick of his career as the Penguins built an early lead in Game 2 against the Senators then held off an Ottawa rally to win 4-3. Pittsburgh now holds a 2-0 advantage in the teams’ Eastern Conference semifinal series, with the Senators now needing...

WATCH: Crosby’s 2nd career Hat Trick sinks Sens

Sid “the Kid” Crosby (courtesy of Sidney Crosby’s 2nd career hat trick was one of the natural kind. Crosby scored the opening goal after wristing one past Ottawa Senators goalie Craig Anderson. After the Senators Kyle Turris  tied the game at one, Crosby’s 2nd goal was a ricochet shot off of Anderson’s leg pad. Crosby then put the icing on the Hat Trick cake with...

Sidney Crosby is a Finalist for the Masterton

Another award nomination for Sid and for a member of the Penguins. From the NHL: Crosby, 25, missed most of the previous two seasons dealing with concussion issues, and then the first half of the 2012-13 season -- along with the rest of the League -- during the lockout. Questions were asked if Crosby ever could be the same player he was prior to his injuries. Instead, he returned...

Islanders moving to Brooklyn early?

The Islanders have plans to move to the new Barclays Center and this tweet from the team may be hinting at them arriving a year early.

Stanley Cup Playoffs: Eastern Conference Semi-Final – Penguins vs. Senators: Game 2.

The Penguins were back at it tonight after two nights off, welcoming back the Ottawa Senators for game two of the best-of-seven Eastern Conference Semi-Final series between the two teams. With Pittsburgh having taken the first game 5 to 1, the Penguins were looking to go 2-0 in a playoff series for the first time since 2009 while the Senators, who’ve never rebounded from being...

NHL Playoff Observations -- Friday (Thursday, too)

Just a few things that caught my eye: Four shots, three goals ... and his second career hat playoff hat trick. The third goal was Sidney Crosby's 100th playoff point, a feat accomplished in merely 75 games. Plus he's the fifth fastest to hit that 100-point mark. Who was faster? Just Wayne Gretzky (46 games), Mario Lemieux (50), Jari Kurri (67) and Mike Bossy (74)....

Senators-Penguins Preview

Even as numbers on a roster, the Pittsburgh Penguins' power play appears intimidating. At times on the ice, it looks borderline unfair. Start with two NHL MVPs in Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. Add a future Hall of Famer like Jarome Iginla and a Norris Trophy finalist in defenseman Kris Letang. Throw in a grinder to do the dirty work in Chris Kunitz and the Penguins have...
