In a press release on November 11th the Columbus Blue Jackets (6-10-0) announced that left wing Matt Calvert and center Boone Jenner were officially back at practice with the team. Calvert has not been able to practice with the team since the first week of the season when he underwent an abdominal injury and had surgery in Philadelphia. While Jenner has missed the last six games with a leg injury he suffered during the Blue Jackets’ win over the Toronto Maple Leafs (11-6-0) on October 25th. Neither player is expected to be in the lineup for any of the team’s three games this week, but according to coach Todd Richards, “this is the first step as far as getting them back”. Richards is optimistic that they will be able to fill the missing spots in the Blue Jackets’ offense. The team is excited to get both of those important players back and on the ice for the games; if all goes well they are expected to be on the lineup for the two games next week. Follow isportsweb on twitter The Blue Jackets managed to finally get a win on Saturday against the New York Islanders (6-9-3), but they will need to give it their all for the entire length of the game in their matches this week. Tonight, the Blue Jackets are set to face off against the Washington Capitals (9-8-1). Their coaches are still stressing the importance off shooting the puck better and focusing on improving their offense overall. Furthermore, the team is looking to exact revenge against the Capitals, who beat the Blue Jackets 4-1 in their last game. This will be a tough week for the Blue Jackets when they are set to face the Boston Bruins (11-5-1) on Thursday and then the Montreal Canadiens (9-8-1) on Friday. On a positive note, the coaches have noticed that their defense is still strong and that should hopefully assist the team in preventing a lot of shots on goal from their upcoming opponents. The coaches are also optimistic about their new offensive lines and hope that with more practice they will be able to be used effectively. These next few weeks should be crucial for the Blue Jackets. They will face some tough competition and will hopefully have two of their key players back on the lineup. Read more Columbus rumors, news and opinion on our Columbus Blue Jackets page
