Max Talbot has been a very busy man during the NHL lockout. The Philadelphia forward founded the Quebec Caravan League along with fellow province native Bruno Gervais, but apparently the work stoppage has left Talbot, for lack of a better word, bored. Recently a youtube video surfaced that featured Talbot shooting a hockey puck out of thin air, with a bow and arrow. Apparently the left winger has an appetite for gaming and is a huge fan of the Assasins' Creed series, so much so that he donned a hood and peformed a super human workout reflecting the skills of...

Max Talbot shoots puck out of the air with arrow in ‘Assassin’s Creed III’ promo (video)

In what sadly qualifies as an NHL-related “highlight video” in this tragic wasteland that features a dearth of actual hockey videos due to the lockout, here’s Philadelphia Flyers center Max Talbot, wearing a black hoodie and armed with a bow and a quiver of arrows, shooting a puck out of the air with a bow [...]

Danny Briere and Claude Giroux Headed Overseas

As reported today by several Flyers beat writers, Danny Briere and Claude Giroux will be heading overseas.  Comcast Sportsnet Tim Panaccio reported that the Flyers stars will be playing in Berlin.  It sounds like they wil be playing for Eisbären Berlin.  With the lockout, Briere and Giroux now make it 7 total players who are playing overseas. Later this afternoon, the NHL is...

Briere and Giroux sign with Eisbaren Berlin of the DEL

It has been reported that Danny Briere and Claude Giroux have signed with Eisbaren Berlin out of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) in Germany. It has not been confirmed yet on when they will arrive to play in Berlin. This news comes as a bit of a surprise, as I thought Giroux might end up going to the KHL, or go and play for HC Kladno in the Czech league. HC Kladno is the team that...

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Phantoms, Giroux, Read, Grossmann and more

I lost a lengthy (and 80 percent completed) blog this morning to a computer freeze-up, so I will have to rewrite it from scratch. This will serve as a placeholder in the interim. The blog should be finished around 11 AM and will cover: * The Phantoms' 5-3 exhibition opener loss to Albany yesterday * An update on Claude Giroux * An update on Nicklas Grossmann * Matt Read...

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Giroux, Phantoms, Prospects, Acton/Peeters and More

Here's the latest on the status of Claude Giroux during the lockout. * Sport Express in Russia has reported that Avangard Omsk is out of the running for Giroux at this point after talks stalled. The team has instead signed Winnipeg Jets captain Andrew Ladd. * Czech publication iSport reported that, with Avangard seemingly out of the picture now, a reunion of Giroux and...

Tim Panaccio: Off to Germany

A lot of us, myself included, assumed Danny Briere would go back to the Swiss League during the lockout. Turns out, he and Claude Giroux are headed the Germany to play for Eisbären Berlin in the Deutsche Eishiockey Liga (DEL). Briere texted this morning with the news. “No other comment,” Briere said. Briere and Giroux h ad been holding out...
