10:00 ET… TV: Local Networks

Overall: Coyotes (27-21-8) … Canucks (34-15-6)
Away/Home: Coyotes (13-11-4) … Canucks (15-6-4)
Last 10: Coyotes (6-3-1) … Canucks (6-1-3)
Season Series: 1-0 Canucks

Injury report:
PHX- David Schlemko (foot, out)
VAN- Chris Higgins (illness, questionable), Keith Ballard (neck, questionable), Dale Weise (foot, questionable)

Three things to watch:
1. Surging Coyotes
Don’t look now, but the Phoenix Coyotes are surging in the Western Conference. They have won five consecutive games at the perfect time, vaulting to eighth in the conference with a tiny bit of breathing room (that can go away in a flash). Mike Smith has been stellar in net, while the offense has used its balance attack to win games. Just when you thought the Coyotes were dead, they’re on a mission once again.
2. Overtime a magnet for Canucks
To say that the overtime has had a magnetic pull to the Canucks would be an understatement. Nine of the Canucks’ last 12 games have gone to overtime or a shootout, with them coming out on top six times. They may have the fourth-most points in the league, but the fact that they are needing overtime to put away teams shows they aren’t the same as last year.
3. Coyotes’ success in Vancouver
During the Canucks’ Presidents’ Trophy-winning season in 2010-11, only one team beat them twice at Rogers Arena. That team was tonight’s opponent, who will be making their first trip to Vancouver this season. The Coyotes were trounced at home by the Canucks earlier this season, but they’ve won three of their last five trips in Vancouver.

Final thought: The Canucks keep finding ways to pull out close games, while Phoenix has caught fire as the games become more and more important. Home or away, the Coyotes play the same way. But if the Canucks can get up early, I like their chances. Prediction: Canucks 3, Coyotes 2

The rest of today’s predictions:
Sharks over Capitals
Canadiens over Hurricanes
