The Morning After:
Yesterday’s results:

Avalanche 3, Ducks 2 (OT)
Sharks 3, Oilers 2
Predators 5, Coyotes 4 (SO)

RLD 3 stars of the night:
1. Tyler Ennis, BUF (2 goals)
2. Martin Erat, NSH (1 goal, 2 assists)
3. Semyon Varlamov, COL (38 saves)

Tonight’s slate:
Capitals @ Islanders, 7:00 ET
Devils @ Flyers, 7:00
Hurricanes @ Rangers, 7:30
Bruins @ Lightning, 7:30
Maple Leafs @ Panthers, 7:30
Stars @ Wild, 8:00
Blues @ Blackhawks, 8:30
Sharks @ Flames, 9:30
Red Wings @ Kings, 10:30

Game of the night:
New Jersey Devils @ Philadelphia Flyers
7:00 ET… TV: Local Networks

Overall: Devils (40-24-5) … Flyers (39-22-7)
Away/Home: Devils (21-12-2) … Flyers (17-10-5)
Last 10: Devils (5-4-1) … Flyers (7-3-0)
Season Series: 3-2 Devils

Starting goaltenders:
NJ- Martin Brodeur (2011-12 stats: 25-17-3, 2.43 GAA)
PHI- Ilya Bryzgalov (2011-12 stats: 27-13-6, 2.59 GAA)

Injury report:
NJ- Travis Zajac (Achilles, out), Henrik Tallinder (leg, out)
PHI- Jakub Voracek (head, questionable), Kimmo Timonen (back, out), James van Riemsdyk (foot, out), Pavel Kubina (upper body, out), Andrej Meszaros (lower body, out), Chris Pronger (concussion, out), Blair Betts (knee, out), Tom Sestito (groin, out)

Three things to watch:
1. Ilya Bryzgalov
Finally, Mr. Universe is catching fire in his new stomping grounds. Bryzgalov has won all five of his starts this month, posting a 0.99 GAA, .968 save percentage and three shutouts in that stretch. ‘Bryz’ has been scrutinized all season long. But he has helped the Flyers keep pace in the East and has kept them in the race for first-round home-ice.
2. Ilya Kovalchuk
In their meeting Sunday, the Devils sniper recorded a goal and two assists. Kovalchuk has nine points in the last four games. Additionally, in his career against Philadelphia he has 43 points in 44 games. When Kovalchuk is producing and playing like he is now, the Devils are a tough team to beat.
3. Final meeting of the season
This will be the sixth and final meeting of the season between the two rivals. New Jersey won at home Sunday, 4-1, their third victory in the season series. The Flyers return home looking to avenge the loss from 48 hours prior. The fifth seed will likely come down to the Flyers and Devils. The reward? New York or Pittsburgh in the first round.

Final thoughts: With the Devils beating these Flyers two days ago, I see Bryzgalov and company rebounding here (despite their abundance of injuries). It will be a fun game to watch, as both teams are playing good hockey. Prediction: Flyers 3, Devils 1

The rest of today’s predictions:
Capitals over Islanders
Hurricanes over Rangers
Bruins over Lightning
Panthers over Maple Leafs
Stars over Wild
Blackhawks over Blues
Flames over Sharks
Kings over Red Wings
