The New York Rangers have been linked to Rick Nash of the Columbus Blue Jackets since right before the most recent NHL Trade Deadline. A deal appeared close at times, and then Columbus kept asking for more in return. The Blue Jackets are demanding for a huge package in return for Nash, which is understandable. But if you ask for too much, it will scare off teams for good.

That should be the case with the Rangers this time, especially with Nash. New York would be foolish to give up what Columbus is asking for Nash, as good as he is, he will not be enough to compensate for how much the Blue Shirts would have to surrender to acquire him.

With that being said, the Rangers should turn their attention to Bobby Ryan of the Anaheim Ducks. It has been reported that Ryan has at least been made ‘available,’ meaning he can be had for the right price. The Ducks insist they are not actively shopping  the 25-year-old winger, but they will receive plenty of phone calls.

Many are saying that Ryan could be this Summer’s consolation prize, behind Nash, although I would go out on a limb and say that Ryan could actually be a better bargain for a team such as the Rangers to acquire. Granted, they will not be alone in asking about Ryan’s availability and what it may cost to acquire him, but he will more than likely come much cheaper than Nash, and he is also as productive on the ice at most times, if not more so than Nash.

It also doesn’t hurt matters that Ryan is three years younger than Nash and put up almost as many point last season. What could hurt is that Ryan does not have a no-trade clause in his contract, which has three years remaining, so Anaheim could send him anywhere they feel nets them the best return package.

Rangers need scoring, but is Nash the option?

By Alexander Monaghan “He’s gonna be a good player. And we don’t trade kids.” – Glen Sather on Chris Kreider Following the New York Rangers’ demoralizing Eastern Conference Finals loss, the team’s president and general manager remained true to the cause. GARTH: Ryan's Way?

It Is Just Not Right In Columbus

from Bob Hunter of the Columbus Dispatch, When Dave King spoke of the Blue Jackets’ future in 2000-01, during the team’s first season, I remember thinking how unfortunate it was that he wouldn’t be around for it. It was clear that he knew his stuff, and just as clear that he couldn’t possibly coach an NHL expansion team to enough success to keep from eventually getting fired…...

As the offseason ramps up and we get closer to the draft, trade rumors take center stage. While many writers –MSM and bloggers alike– will try to stir up the conversation by using the E.K.L.U.N.D. rumor strategy to try to convince people they are true insiders, we won’t even bother with that. We are not insiders. We do not post fake rumors or even “logical” rumors. We take...
