Last week’s negotiations between the NHL and NHLPA gave us a glimmer of hope before quickly and embarrassingly falling off course, leaving North American hockey fans even more frustrated and angry with the lockout. Monday didn’t bring any good news either, as the NHL reportedly has announced the cancellation of all games through December 30th. If you’re a desperate hockey fan looking for any positives you can take away at this point (like myself) you can take solace in the fact that this is a very small block of axed games considering the all games were previously cancelled through December 14th. You can also be glad this could possibly leave the door open for a glorious return of hockey on New Years Eve, when the NHL has 13 games slated for play, including a Sidney Crosby vs. Alexander Ovechkin headliner. I’m sure the league could find worse ways to usher in an abbreviated season, no? B ut, as with any news that comes out of this giant mess, you should proceed with cautious optimis...

Penguins sticking together as NHL lockout drags on

Sidney Crosby says he's not reading anything into the fact the ice rink at the team's practice facility has gotten a little more crowded over the last couple days. Crosby and nearly a dozen of his Pittsburgh Penguins teammates worked out Tuesday. It's a routine Crosby has kept to since the NHL lockout started in September and he says the recent uptick in attendance doesn...

Pens stick together during lockout

Brooks Orpik had a good reason to head back to Pittsburgh after spending the first three months of the NHL lockout in Massachusetts, and the Penguins defenseman insists it had nothing to do with optimism he and the rest of his teammates are closer to getting back to work. ''I didn't have snow tires on my car, so I was like, 'If I wait this out any longer I'm...

NHL Cancels December, Plan Next Meeting

With last week's debacle potentially behind them, time is of the essence for the NHL.  If there is to be any sort of season, an agreement needs to be reached before Christmas.  Today the NHL will formally announce the cancellation of all games through December 30th. Now that all of December is axed, it is obvious that if a deal is signed, the season would start in January....

If the deal is completed, as expected, it would be the most significant deal Reebok has signed with a young...
