ST. LOUIS, MO. - JANUARY 12: Rick Nash #61 of the Columbus Bluejackets waits for a face-off against the St. Louis Blues at the Scottrade Center on January 12, 2010 in St. Louis, Missouri. (Photo by Dilip Vishwanat/Getty Images)
Power forward Rick Nash still belongs to the Columbus Blue Jackets. Goaltender Roberto Luongo remains the property of the Vancouver Canucks. Defenseman Keith Yandle is a Phoenix Coyote. The New Jersey Devils still have the negotiating rights to pending unrestricted free agent Zach Parise. Similarly, the Nashville Predators kept the rights to potential UFA Ryan Suter. Will these players and other change places during the days and weeks ahead? Here is some scuttlebutt from the Twitterverse:Bob McKenzie: “Teams interested in Rick Nash say asking price remains high and there's no sense out of CBJ anything is imminent. Likely to be post-July 1.”Nick Consonita: “Several GMs have said first wave of free agency holding up trades. When top guys sign, dominoes will fall.”Darren Dreger: “While their gm's show incredible patience, I suspect Roberto Luongo and Rick Nash are growing weary of the uncertainty.”Bob McKenzie: “Just a hunch, but I would suspect Corey Schneider will sign new deal BEFORE any Luongo deal is done. Schneider negotiations ongoing.”George Richards: “#FlaPanthers Dale Tallon said he did speak with #Canucks about goaltending; says he won't part w/ top prospects #Luongo.”Bob McKenzie: “FLA and TOR likely 2 most interested teams in Luongo but believe price is too steep. VAN says things are progressing but seem in no rush.”Shawn Roarke: “VAN GM Mike Gillis said he believes there are 15 world-class No. 1 goalies in world. Believes Luongo is one of them and he wants full value.”James Mirtle: “Mike Gillis reiterates the Canucks are fine with Luongo staying put. Says deal of that magnitude will be made on their terms.”Shawn Roarke: “Contrary to belief, Gillis says he is under no pressure to get something done with Luongo ‘I'm the problem,’ he said.”Bob McKenzie: “PHX D Keith Yandle was most certainly in play for trade, steep asking price, now looks as though PHX has pulled him back...for now anyway.”Tim Panaccio: “My sense on Yandle. If Flyers want him, they can get him, but either (Brayden) Schenn or (Sean) Couturier would have to go. PHO wants value.”Nick Cotsonika: “Asked to describe a winger who would fit with Sidney Crosby, Dan Bylsma seemed to describe a Zach Parise type.”Bob McKenzie: “I assumed when PIT made big moves to clear cap space, it was for a run at UFA Parise but it seems UFA Suter is more likely primary target.”Craig Custance: “Lots of interest in Paul Martin but not sure the Penguins move him unless they think they can get Ryan Suter.”Dave Molinari: “(Ray) Shero says there are players he won't consider trading. Pressed, he mentions only Crosby, (Evgeni) Malkin.”Bob McKenzie: “Contrary to rumors, though, PIT management told me there are no plans to deal for Suter/Parise rights pre-July 1. Will take chances July 1.”
