Found January 15, 2013 on The Pensblog:
When they're not doing, you know, journalism, there are two things that hockey media members love to do: 1) Complain when someone doesn't immediately talk to them, and 2) bash players for not being "a leader." Usually these two things come hand-in-hand. It's a little strange that nearly every player who isn't a leader on his team is also a player who just happened to turn down a recent interview request, but that must be how things work in hockey. I don't know for sure. I've "never played the game." But that must be the way it is, because it's not like a journalist would be petty enough to attack a player in public just because said player turned down an interview request, right? After all, these people are JOURNALISTS. They've got to be above emotional feuds and name-calling and holding grudges, right? Isn't that what separates them from lonely bloggers in their basements? The fact that they hold themselves to a greater standa...

NHL MVP Malkin returns to Penguins healthy, happy

While the rest of his Pittsburgh Penguins teammates got taped up before practice on Tuesday, Evgeni Malkin ducked off to the side and picked up a couple of personal items that'd been waiting for him during his four-month working vacation in his native Russia. You know, just the Hart Trophy for being named the NHL's Most Valuable Player last season. Oh, and the Art Ross Trophy...

After one whole day, Evgeni Malkin finally spoke to the press so the Beaver County Times can call off it's goons. We didn't hear any whiny babies in the background so...

Evgeni Malkin Media Availability

Evgeni Malkin's first media availability since returning from the KHL:

Canucks sign defenseman Barker

The Vancouver Canucks have signed defenseman Cam Barker to a one-year deal. Barker was originally selected by the Chicago Blackhawks third overall in the 2004 draft, behind Washington's Alex Ovechkin and Pittsburgh's Evgeni Malkin. Barker missed most of last season with an ankle injury that required surgery. ''I had a tough year last year,'' Barker said...

Rich: Media Still Doesn’t Get It

It’s time for yet another installment of “It’s Not About You Theatre”.  Weeks after the BBWA made Baseball Hall of Fame voting about no one but themselves, Beaver County Times Writer Chris Bradford has come out gun ablazing to one up them. How dare Evgeni Malkin not talk to Chris Bradford!  Do you know who [...]

We've already looked at the Goalies   Good God.   We've said it for almost three years now. When will we finally get to see Malkin and Crosby healthy and in monster mode together at the same time?  Every duo has that magical season. 66 and 68 went off for a combined 310 points in '95-'96.   If there's ever...
