Ryan Suter may have summed it up best in his post game quote: “We sh*t the bed” (awesome job from Jim Diamond [@diamondhockey on Twitter] for that gem).

Nashville allowed 3 goals in the first, had a great second period outshooting Edmonton 18-7 but failing on a 5-on-3 and another powerplay, and finally allowing 3 more goals in the third period before ultimately falling 6-2 to the Edmonton Oilers in front of a near-capacity crowd tonight.

Edmonton has now won 4 out of the previous 5 match-ups against Nashville.

HIGHLIGHTS

Special Teams:
Powerplay – 1 for 6, 16.67%
Penalty Kill – 2 for 4, 50%

Best Play of the Game: On the powerplay, Weber fires it from the point, Tootoo knocks it down, Nashville cancels the shut-out. Predators made it a 3-goal deficit there down now 4-1 in the third.

Worst Play of the Game: A horrid turnover from Kevin Klein to Ales Hemsky sent him on a breakaway, who lifted the puck over a diving Pekka Rinne to make it 2-0 Edmonton 11:39 into the first period

My Three Stars:

#1:  - Jordan Eberle – 2 goals, 1 assist, +2 on the night. Just a great night from Eberle who took it to the Predators

#2:  - Ryan Nugent-Hopkins – 2 assists, +2 on the night. The rookie leader in points in the NHL showed why he has the magic touch, setting up two goals tonight

#3:  - Ryan Smyth – 2 assists, +2 on the night. A man who is getting up on the levels of Martin Havlat as a Pred-killer, Smyth grabbed 2 assists as well

Yep, well, not much to say about this one, so I’m going to leave you some quotes from some of the credentialed media members who had the wonderful privilege of talking to some angry players after the game:

Ryan Suter – “We sh*t the bed”

Via Ryan Porth (@smashville247) from Smashville 24/7

Jordin Tootoo – “Tonight was a piss poor effort”

Jordin Tootoo – “This was a f***** piss off”

Thanks to Jim and Ryan for posting those on Twitter.

Well now, talk is cheap, so let’s see how Nashville responds against league-leading Minnesota. It’ll be interesting to see which Predators team comes out against the Wild: The 3-shot first period team that didn’t score, the 18-shot second period team that didn’t score, or the 11-shot third period team that scored two goals.

Stay tuned to The Predatorial tomorrow morning for the gameday preview of the Wild game!

Stay frosty, friends.
