LOS ANGELES, CA - MARCH 05: Steve Ott #29 of the Dallas Stars skates in against the Los Angeles Kings during the game at the Staples Center on March 5, 2008 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Harry How/Getty Images)
Back when Steve Ott and Jeff Halpern were teammates with the Dallas Stars, it's not known how close the two were off the ice. But when the two faced off against each other as opponents on Thursday night, we saw a glimpse of just how close they get on the ice. Ott, now a center for the Buffalo Sabres, has always been known as one of the best agitators in the NHL. And on Thursday night, he might have taken things just a little too far. Hockey Night in Canada cameras had a tight shot on the faces of Ott and Halpern, who now plays for the Montreal Canadians, as the two were at center ice for a face-off. Ott made an odd movement towards Halpern's face and, upon a slow motion replay, it appeared Ott tried to lick Halpern on the face. Players are always looking to get an edge on the draw, but as one of the announcers put it best...that's just creepy.
