Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Oliver Lauridsen may be 6’6″ 220 lbs, but his size certainly didn’t help him against Buffalo Sabres pest Patrick Kaleta (6’1″ 200 lbs). Kaleta threw a ton of heavy punches early and often in this bout and Lauridsen never even got a chance to throw anything noteworthy. Kaleta is one of of the most-hated players in the league for his constant cheap-shots so it’s not surprising Lauridsen wanted to fight him.
BEST OF MAXIM
That was former Saint Cloud State Husky defenseman Oliver Lauridsen's first NHL fight, I suppose, he would have like to have done beter. Nice to see that Lauridsen take on one of the biggest pukes in the NHL, I don't hold Kaleta in very high regards at all, he's a reckless players that has been suspended numerous times by the NHL. Kaleta was also called out by teammate...
via NHL.com video Whatever I say here won’t do justice the little stunt that Buffalo Sabres’ tough guy John Scott pulled during teammate Chad Ruhwedel’s post game interview Sunday. While MSG-Buffalo’s Brian Duff asked Duhwedel about getting a high-stick to the face while not wearing a full shield, Scott grabbed his faux fur coat and got his groove on. Duhwedel had no clue...

Trade talk surrounding Ryan Miller has never been hotter as the Sabres begin to enter a rebuild and the potential to gain a handsome return for the former Vezina Winner. Acquiring valuable assets for the goaltender has become a hot topic as many question if he will return after his contract expires next summer.
What stands in the way of dealing Miller is his limited no-trade...
Jhonas Enroth stopped 32 shots in helping the Buffalo Sabres keep up their late-season playoff push with a 3-1 win over the slumping Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday.
Tyler Ennis got his first goal in 12 games, and Jochen Hecht and Kevin Porter also scored for Buffalo (18-19-6), which took over sole possession of 10th place in the Eastern Conference. With five games left, the Sabres...

Boos and Bo-hoos, Because it’s Buffalo?
Commentary on the State of Hockey Heaven by John Wingspread Howell
As the strike shortened NHL season limps to an end here in “Hockey Heaven,” Sabres fans all agree that it’s more like hockey hell. The commentary on social media and sports talk radio has become increasingly toxic.
One of the key phrases repeated, not...
First the lick, then the toss below, a weird night for Steve Ott.

(Photo by Bill Wippert/NHLI via Getty Images) Today’s matinee featured two teams who find themselves outside of the Eastern Conference playoff race. In the 11th and 12th places, the Buffalo Sabres and the Philadelphia Flyers faced off for the third and final time this season. They have split the season series. Steve Mason got the [...]
For the second time in 24 hours, the Sabres earned a regulation win. This time, they defeated Tampa Bay by a 3-1 score on Sunday at the First Niagara Center.
Jhonas Enroth got his 2nd straight start after his shutout performance against Philadelphia on Saturday, and allowed one goal on 33 shots.
âThereâs a lot of things weâre doing right right now,â Enroth...
Buffalo Sabres center Steve Ott is known for doing some pretty strange things, and he added to that reputation on Thursday night. Before a face-off against the Montreal Canadiens, Ott tried to lick Montreal’s Jeff Halpern’s visor.
Is that his idea of trying to gain an advantage? If I was Halpern, it would probably work. It’s one thing for a guy to try to get in your head by...
The Philadelphia Flyers are facing what appears to be inevitable elimination from playoff contention, and a deep scoring slump certainly isn't helping matters.
Facing a Montreal Canadiens team that was pretty generous in its own end the last time out could help get them back on track.
Philadelphia looks to avoid a fifth consecutive loss by defeating Montreal for the eighth...
Steve Ott, agitator extraordinaire, loves to stir things up. Whether it's about fans booing in Buffalo which caused an interesting and kind of hilarious exchange between him, his fiancee and Buffalo's beat writer, or if it's trying to gain an edge before a draw, he'll do what it takes to get under your skin.
This time prior to a faceoff, Ott tried to lick Jeff...
Jhonas Enroth made 29 saves for his first shutout since November 18, 2011. It was his third career shutout.
Enroth was pressed into mop-up duty in the third period of Thursday's 5-1 loss to Montreal.
Today, the net was his and he owned Philadelphia.
The Super Swede clutched up in a game his team could not afford to lose. The Sabres had been brutally bad and were outscored...
First of all, did you see what Steve Ott did in last night's game against Montreal? Watch the entire video:
I've never seen anyone do that before, and I didn't catch it during the game. Thought it was pretty funny.
Does it aggravate you...
Two teams buried in the Eastern Conference standings put on a dull display of listless hockey for roughly 55 of 60 minutes yesterday in Buffalo. The Flyers and Buffalo Sabres didn't exactly put the pedal to the metal for most of the afternoon, and the result was a match that had the look and feel of a preseason game. Most of the noticeable players were the ones auditioning for...
