James Neal had not scored a goal in eight games. For a guy who hits the net as frequently as he does, it probably felt as if it were eight weeks. Maybe eight months. So, when Neal got a Robert Bortuzzo rebound on his stick in the second minute of overtime Monday night at Consol Energy Center, he might have been tempted to rifle it toward the Ottawa net and simply hope it would elude goalie Craig Anderson. But Neal opted to hold onto the puck, skate backward into the right circle and then throw it at -- and into -- the Senators' net for the winner in the Penguins' 2-1 victory. By moving away from the slot before releasing the puck, Neal was able to get away from Anderson and defenseman Marc Methot, both of whom were in front of the net, and shoot at a mostly open net. "It felt like a little while, a lot longer than it probably was, trying to be patient with the puck there and wait for an opening," he said. Turned out to be well worth the wait, though, as he go...

Neals scores in OT, lifts Penguins to win

James Neal scored at 3:05 of overtime, helping the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Ottawa Senators 2-1 on Monday night. Neal netted his 18th of the season and scored his first goal in nine games for the Penguins, who won for the 16th time in 17 home games and are now 23-4 at Consol Energy Center. Pittsburgh also avoided back-to-back regulation losses for the first time since dropping...

Brian Gibbons With the Speed to Succeed by @ChicksDigHockey

Brian Gibbons is listed in his profile as being a  5’ 8” right winger. (I think that’s with his skates on) He’s a compact fireplug who has some impressive wheels. He signed a 2 yr contract with the Penguins in April of 2011 and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Boston College in May of 2011. He played four seasons of NCAA Division 1 hockey with Boston College...

By: Casey Johnston (@CaseyR82) Please take our anonymous survey and tell us how we can improve ourselves. Sid Needs a Right Winger Since the injury of Pascal Dupuis on New Year’s Eve, Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz have been trying to keep the first line together with duct tape and bubble gum.  In the last 10 games Crosby and Kunitz have skated at even strength with, among others...

WATCH: Marc-Andre Fleury robs Erik Karlsson with glove save

Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury wanted to remind Team Canada officials why he should have been on the team. Ottawa Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson had a wide open net and Fleury flashed the leather and snagged the puck out of the air. Karlsson couldn’t do anything but drop to a knee in laugh in utter disbelief as a brief scrum erupted. Fleury has rebounded very well...

Video: Pittsburgh’s Marc-Andre Fleury Had An Unreal Glove Save Against Ottawa Tonight

The Pittsburgh Penguins, who find themselves in first place in the Metropolitan Division, hosted the Ottawa Senators tonight at the Consol Energy Center in what turned out to be a low-scoring thriller. Two goals were scored in the first period before the game turned into a defensive battle between two of the league’s better goalies; Pittsburgh’s Marc-Andre Fleury and Ottawa...

Marc-Andre Fleury uses his glove, Craig Anderson uses his head. Both make sick saves.

Goaltending duel at CEC tonight. Marc-Andre Fleury won it with this save. The glove is the least impressive part of this save. Karlsson basically shot it into his glove. Fleury's body control is what is staggering. To be able to slide across and raise his arms like that. You probably had trouble getting out of bed today. Think about it. Not to be out done,Craig Anderson...

Penguins-Sabres Preview

While they continue to pace the Eastern Conference, the Pittsburgh Penguins would like to avoid another road loss before the Olympic break. They're also hoping to see Sidney Crosby break out of his slump. Visiting the league-worst Buffalo Sabres would seem to provide the Penguins and Crosby a good opportunity to accomplish both goals Wednesday night. Pittsburgh (39-15-2) has...
