The Pittsburgh Penguins have brought back their third-line center.#163580885 / gettyimages.comThe club has announced that they've reached two-year contract worth $6.6M with Brandon Sutter. The 25 year old center gets a modest raise over his $2.7M salary, but also dings that cap at just under $1.2M more, not bad for a guy who averaged 2:57 in shorthanded minutes a game for the fifth best PK in the league last season.Scoring hasn't been Sutter's calling card, averaging just 25 points per regular season. But he managed to chip in playoff career-highs across the board in 2013, including goals (five) and points (10). He has 10 points in 28 career postseason games.Sutter saw a 44% defensive zone start rate during the playoffs in 2013, while seeing a 42.2% neutral zone start rate during the regular season. No doubt he'll be counted on for a similar roll in 2014-'15.The Pens now have $930K in cap space.Chirp with me! @MattRiegler Like what you're reading? Subscribe ...
