Pro Sports Daily:
There was a 16-minute delay to start the second period Monday night as arena workers at First Niagara Center scurried about trying to figure out a way to turn the lights on again.
It was perfect symbolism for the Buffalo Sabres’ power outage to start this season.
The Sabres were winless had scored six goals … and it scared the heck out of Mike Yeo. It’s why the Wild coach did everything he could Monday to guard against his team walking into a trap.
Well former Buffalo Sabres captain Jason Pominville made sure that didn’t happen. In his first game back in the barn in which he played for eight seasons Pominville fittingly scored a gorgeous winning goal to lead the Wild to a 2-1 victory in the first of four consecutive away from St. Paul.
“It tops off a pretty emotional day in a good way” Pominville said. “It was a special day a day I’ll remember for a while.”
Pominville’s power-play goal with 9.7 seconds left in the second period helped the Wild to its third consecutive victory a...
BEST OF MAXIM
Almost daily Jason Pominville will get recognized around the Twin Cities. He’s always flattered although inevitably the Wild winger knows where the conversation will usually end up.
It takes mere minutes for hockey-mad Wild and Gophers fans to ask Pominville if his former Buffalo Sabres teammate Thomas Vanek will soon be reuniting with him in Minnesota.
“It’s funny” said...
It was a chilly winter day in Buffalo. I was in the driver’s seat of my dad’s 2002 red Dodge pickup truck as it rumbled down Newhouse Road in Clarence Center. My sister was riding shotgun. We were on our way to a classy Italian restaurant called Faletta’s and were as excited as we could be.
She had gotten a call the week before telling her she won a drawing to have dinner...
Buffalo got Superdomed on Monday night. During the first intermission of the Sabres’ home game against the Wild, a portion of the arena lights at the First Niagara Center shut off, delaying the start of the second period by more than 15 minutes. The lights did eventually come back on, but the night remained dark for the home team. Former Sabres captain Jason Pominville, now in...

The Buffalo Sabres have the NHL's worst record, and they'll try to shed their winless label at home Monday night against the Minnesota Wild.
It's been all about a lack of offense for the Sabres (0-5-1), who are looking to avoid matching the worst start in franchise history. They went winless in seven straight to open the 1990-91 and 1999-2000 seasons.
This Buffalo club...
from Chris Stevenson of the Ottawa Sun,
The leftovers from Thanksgiving 2013 include the hope NHL vice-president of regulating stupidity Brendan Shanahan will finally get it right and send Buffalo Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta to the back of the fridge until the next time we’re carving a turkey on a special occasion.
Christmas would be about right.
There are lots of...
